Addiction 2022.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

rjones28, Sr. went to the 2022 National Senior Games this week. He rode the 5k and 10k time trials. He'll be 81 in a couple of months.

My PCP got back to me about the Echo results. "looks overall good", she says. She said, enlarged LV might be related to hypertension, but I'm thinking since enlarged LV is about the most common adaptation to exercise in cyclists, it's totally unsurprising. She mentioned my brother - who had an MI at 61, got a couple stents put in, and is on statins due to lousy lipid metabolism - and said "not a bad idea to see a cardiologist". But I have great lipid metabolism - cholesterol 167, triglycerides 45, HDL 69, LDL 88.

I'm thinking this would be a step down a rabbit hole for no particular reason.

There's a goodly number of guys in my senior softball league in their 80s. My team manager last year was 89, and believe it or not, he's faster than most of the guys in the league. Maybe even moi. He is an amazing specimen.
