I rode motorcycles in the desert for 10 years. Rode with some racers and was around some well known racers at times. I knew I was never going to be in their league and I didn't want to mix it up with a bunch of beginners.
I can say almost the exact same thing about bicycling, except more years.

From a Kickr vs Kickr Core comparison:$300 more for the Kickr buys you —
The Kickr is more stable
Doesn’t need assembly out of the box
Folds up for better storage
Easier to transport because it has a handle
Comes with a cassette included
Comes with Cadence sensor included
Heavier Flywheel
More Max Wattage
More Max Grade
Edit: I absolutely prefer a wheel off trainer like either choice. I've got the original Tacx Neo and love it, after having a wheel on Tacx.

I don't know him, but I am not surprised to hear this. Some areas have been hit very hard by the storm. We are kinda lucky but the water pump station near us flooded out and that's why the boil water advisory is on. We lost power for 4 days last summer due to storms and luckily have a generator which we needed then.

Whether the glass is half empty or half full depends on the most recent prior state of the glass.

Not sure how this works to transfer power to the wheels if no chain/belt.

Same way a diesel locomotive does it, only you're the diesel motor, driving a generator that powers the motors that drive the wheels. The article starts out by pointing out it's less efficient than chain drive, so I'm not really sure how I see it replacing that.
