Picked this up from a terrible local CL ad, written by the daughter. The owner actually knew he had something special but was moving and didn't intend to ride anymore.
He had bought this a while back from what I gather was the original owner, rode a bit and sat it aside.
Based on the brochures on the web, I'm thinking this bike is mostly as originally built, save for some consumables.
The Serial Number indicates a 1983 frame build date, the dated components are 1984.
Campy Super Record (reduced), sans pedals. 54cm (c-c) top tube, 52cm (c-c) seat tube.
I've tried to make this fit me. Swapped the Cinelli stem from 100mm to 120mm, and raised the seatpost above the limit line, but still can't quite get there.
Shame, because I do like the way it rides.
Well, here are some pictures for you to admire Mr. Gordon's "production" work. 101 Chinooks were built, but I'm not sure the breakdown between the road and touring models.

I have one, it was rode hard by the original owner and I had to repaint. I would say your assessment is right about parts and what not. He liked to use Campy stuff during that era. Weirdly mine only had a single water bottle mount.

So, now you've got two? Or is this the same one you posted lasted year? I recall having a discussion about the Bicycling road test and the fact that literature on the Bulgier site seemed to be a mix from various years. At least, I though t it was yourself.

and this forum causes me so much trouble...... I am from Chinook, Montana and am now on the lookout for one of these hens teeth. Would be fun to ride in Cino, with my Chinook Sugarbeeters Jersey.

Any one have a spare one in 56 to 58 seat tube range hanging around ???

Yep, that was me. This is the first time I've posted post-cleaning pics, though.

Unfortunately. I've measured and re-measured and inched the seatpost above the limit line as much as I dare. It even came with 175mm cranks, so I was even hoping those extra few mms might drop the saddle enough. It just doesn't get there.
The picture is with the saddle dropped below the limit line, and the stem lowered accordingly at the same time.

Excellent lift capability, and not always leaking hydraulic fluid like the '46. Less maneuverable, though.
