genejockey was the inspiration for getting it back on the road. Oops. I just realized it's taken from the wrong side. Oh well. It has.a 64xx crank, and a mix of derailleurs, Suntour VX on the rear and some random Shimano on the front. Brooks Team Pro saddle. I don't know when I will get the chance to test ride it. Possibly this late afternoon.

From all the bikes I've had ti, carbon, steel & aluminum - I prefer aluminum. Jarring but springy as hell! I may be the only one who thinks that.

One of my mechanic friends had his Golf seize up at highway speeds, after rapid oil loss. Of course, it was one of the coldest days of the year.
He's a good mechanic and takes care of his vehicles, but likes to upgrade things. Apparently, a fitting broke.
Naturally, I still roast him about this incident.

The fuel pump started going bad. It's a low pressure system so it will run if the pump makes any pressure, just about. It got really hard to start and would hesitate from a stop, etc. Naturally, I drove it like that for months. It never quit running and I don't remember why I finally replaced it but I was really happy about the way it ran once the new pump was in.

My younger brother bought a brand new Subaru when he graduated from college or started medical school or something and simply ignored the oil. It went over 50k before it seized on 95 somewhere in Connecticut. That was in the 80s. Today, with a load of synthetic, it guess it would go 100 or more.
That's when the tears came, then the anger. "I'm never buying another Chevrolet, GM cars are junk, yadda yadda." After a few weeks they brought in some receipts for oil changes (fake) from a small shop. Chevrolet eventually told us to go ahead and give them a new engine, I guess to avoid going to court.

So this happened today. Velo you would prolly not survive Dallas
Riding around Dallas was pretty awesome. Mojo, 9 am is def the time to be outside in dallas. I went on some major roads today and didn’t get harassed by a car once. Felt safe the whole time.
Completely cleaned my headset today and repacked it with grease.
Its still knocking so I think my headset is warped? not sure.
My bike started knocking loud today and I can’t figure it out at all. Only makes the noise when I pedal, sounds like it is coming from the rear. The knocking comes and goes, it is not controlled by gear, and it continued to get louder and louder and more consistent by the end of the ride.
I have checked seat, seat post, pedals, crank arms( feel tight by hand), Front chain rings ( feel tight by hand), cassette, and rear wheel. Nothing is lose. No wires are in the way of hitting anything, crank arms arnt hitting anything.
saddlebag isn’t hitting anything.
I have ruled everything out.
My rear disc is rubbing a little bit but I don’t think that could start a knocking noise 30 miles In. I took it for a test ride and it started again pretty quickly once my cadence increased. It wasn’t as loud but it was there.
Could it be the rear wheel bearings? If it’s my bottom bracket I will be pissed, but the noise isn’t coming from there, and it’s not the same as the last time my BB went out.
Was hoping to ride outside tomorrow morning but i don’t want my bike to asplode.

It's pointed up. Brooks seem to like being pointed up. The B17 Imperial I'm testing liked to be pointed way up, before it was broken in. Still pointed up, but not so radically. And, since I haven't ridden this build yet, the tilt might change. But i doubt it will go all the way to level.

I may have told this one here before but a customer brought in a Camaro with engine noise and when our engine tech pulled the oil pan, the goop that was where the oil should be was so thick you could write your name in it with your finger.
