Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Perfect Handlebar

I've been searching high and low for a full carbon drop bar handlebar with internal cable routing, no aero qualities (I want to be able to mount lights, clip-on aero bars, GPS, etc. anywhere and everywhere), and in a 360mm or 380mm width. Any suggestions?

ENVE's standard road bar is pretty round at the tops. The compact weighs more. Both versions are kind of porky though. $350 & 205g

Ax-lightness is pretty round at the tops as well. The internal routing is super easy to run cables/housing, etc...You'd have to contact them to get custom reinforcement in the clamp area if you intend to run clip-on aero-bars. Not a big deal, really. €359 & 157g

Either bar is worth the cost & in my experience as comfortable as any other bar you're gonna find.

If you're already in carbon bar territory...At ~$50 more to save almost 2 ounces off your bike, the Ax-lightness is a no brainer.

You might look in to Darimo But, at €400 to save another ounce...& then lose it to reinforcements for internal routing & currently 2 months wait time for manufacture...I dunno. The Ax-lightness is cheaper, in-stock, has the features you are asking for at what amounts to grams difference.

I've been considering those, I feel like I might be able to get slightly better value elsewhere though.

Oop's! I was doing an edit. I added thoughts on other options than that of ENVE.

(Sorry, slow fingers. )

I had these on a bike for a couple years and really liked them a lot. For what it's worth, there's a recessed basin along the bottom of the bars for the cables, once you wrap the tape you really can't tell anything is there. If internal routing is very important for some reason, that's not what these are though.

I have these:

They're awesome. They're comfortable, and they don't flex.

Check FSA handlebars. I haven't looked at their catalog recently. But I'm satisfied with their low end aluminum Omega compact drops after more than two years with 'em.

Oh, for sure. What is "porky" in any set is relative to everything else in the set. Enve's are still way lighter than most. They are with out question a premium product. I wouldn't trade mine for anything, either.

I mostly referenced the weight to give a sense of scale to the OP & to provide a transition mechanism to the Ax-Lightness & Darimo options on the market.

The Easton 100's linked to by the other poster do look like they will garner a lot of attention among the weight conscious. Same price as the Enve, but nearly an ounce lighter. The times are getting interesting indeed.

Of course.
The perfect handlebar should also be a value.
Whoever makes the perfect handlebar is just plain silly for expecting to get a premium price for their products.
