Big John, I feel like an idiot. So I took a quick look at the cervelo today, and it was one of the cables causing the problem. It was rubbing again the frame in a way that felt like the head set was stuck, and it was also behind the noise I was hearing when I turned the bars.
Play is still there.
Play is still there.

After yesterday's really fun ride on the Litespeed with the newly re-tuned Frankengruppo, I realize that since I'm not going to be riding outside before all the bits are in place to rebuild it with the Dura Ace kit, the next obvious step is to strip it down. Which seems a shame, since I spent a not inconsiderable amount of time getting it looking good and working well.
But, guys.....

I mean, the 7410 crank is The Most Beautiful Crankset Ever, so how can I not?

I have seen them polished. These get worn fairly often, right where the "Dura Ace" is, and some folks will strip the anodizing off and polish them on the buffing wheel. I was pleasantly surprised - especially for the price I paid - to find these looking as good. The NDS is even better.

A Lynskey, size large frame set just popped up in my area for 1,000.00. With the litespeed just about done, it’s time for another project.

That's not how my Muse works. I already have the Litespeed, so another Ti bike would be redundant. It's why I find myself pondering selling the Lotus Classique - it's the SECOND 1982 Lotus with Shimano kit in my collection.

The Battaglin has a Phil Wood in 102 with Campy tapers, and the Ritchey has one in 103 with JIS tapers. The Litespeed's getting the BB-7410 that came with the crank. I don't feel anything untoward.

Are you asking if both you AND orange peels are thicker, or if it's only you that's thicker?
