>>>In Manitoba, I used to be able to get pecan butter tarts at just about every small grocery store in the middle of nowhere. They're a good choice!!<<<<
Do they have Clodhoppers in Manitoba, or is that just a Montreal thing? THOSE would be a major treat at the end of a good day's ride!

The pecan butter tarts and date squares were all/mostly "home made" ... someone in the little town or village, or maybe someone at the grocery store, would bake up a batch, wrap them in cling wrap and the little grocery store would sell them quite inexpensively. And they were big ... heavy pecan butter tarts that just barely fit in my hand, thick date squares easily the size of the palm of my hand. So good.
One such grocery store I used to cycle past quite frequently had a table of home made goodies made by a ladies group in town. There could be different things each time I stopped in, but the pecan butter tarts and date squares were quite popular.
But that was a decade ago, so who knows ... maybe regulations prevent such things now. Nevertheless, if you're cycling through Manitoba, I'd recommend checking out the little grocery stores and seeing if they've got a "home made" selection.

>>>>I do recall trying them once or twice, but they never really appealed to me.<<<<<
I used to travel to Canada on business at least once a week and, when it Montreal, I would always horde several bags of Clodhoppers for friends and family back home. To me, they'd be an excellent reward at the end (or at any point) of a bike tour. However, since I can't get 'em here in the States, I'm sticking with donuts.

Wow another 15 year old thread reopened to suggest eating ice cream. Last time you posted it was to comment on a 15 year old cook-less thread to mention that you liked cookies and then to add some more weird content to the zombie thread Do you only reply to 15 year old threads about sweet treats? Why on earth would you reopen a 15 year old thread to give a two word answer? Inquiring minds want to know. Your account looks like it was created in 2009. It all seems very mysterious.
