I used to spot blowers (tell them which areas to blow) in the late 70s and it may be wind direction or it could be a storage problem. After a bad storm with a lot of drifting, one side may become burdened with too much snow and the plows have trouble having some where to put the snow. If there’s room on the other side, send it there.
Snow blowing is very slow and is rarely the first line of removal. It’s usually done after the storm passes and is clean up for places the plows can’t clear the road completely. Same with wing plowing to move over-storage back so there will be room to put snow the the next snowfall.

WYDOT said they broke out the rotaries to clear drifts. Probably is better for them to put the snow over on the side of the highway with a low side, then plows can push it off the low side. If they just blow it to the high side, then that just provides a setup for higher drifts when next snow comes.

I paid $40 for mine, but it came as part of a lot of 2 watches, and it was the lesser of the two. However, it needed a service, wherein I discovered it also needed a new lower balance cap jewel retention spring. And a lower balance cap jewel.

Correct. By the way, blowers are dangerous in areas of a lot of traffic. We only used them as a last resort. They leave a snow skim on the road reminiscent of talcum powder and very slippery. I once saw a car lose control and slide right up the throat. The operator saw him coming and turned off the rotaries. It could have been nasty. It couldn’t have handled the engine but I bet it would have torn it loose from the mounts after chucking the front body work out the chutes.

I wish I didn’t. The engineering department rarely got involved in snow removal until blizzards that would close roads. Then it was all hands on deck for 3 or 4 days. What I didn’t like is that almost always father a major blowing and drifting snow, the temps drop below zero with wind hills -25-30°. Luckily, it’s fairly rare.

We went through a LOT of eggs. Then TOB decided to do Intermittent Fasting, and TYB got lazy. Now a dozen last a long time.
