After a couple of problem-free years riding light-bicycle carbon mtb rims, I've decided to take the plunge and ordered up a set of tubeless-ready 38mm carbon clincher wheels from light-bicycle.com. I was wondering if anyone has run them tubeless? I'm also trying to figure out what size valve stems to order, I'd prefer not to have them extra long. And any advice on tires? I love the non-tubeless Ultremo's on my other wheels, was thinking of going with Ultremo ZX tubeless.

So I got my rims about 8 days after they were shipped. Rim quality looks great, but i noticed the rims were bulging slightly around the nipples on the front wheel. Turns out they were way over-tensioned. My LBS detensioned them and mounted up a set of Schwalbe One tubless tires, and the bulges have disappeared. I notified Nancy at light-bicycles.com, and after our initial email dialog along with some pictures, she went silent. Not to say I have a problem yet, but I wanted her to know in the event something happens down the road.

Weight-wise they were a tad over the 1300 gram spec, build quality was good other than the tensioning issue. The Bitec hubs have no logos so it's a nice stealth look.

They ride pretty sweet on my Madone. I'll be playing around with pressures to find the sweet spot. The shop said I should pray to not get a flat on the road as they were a ***** to mount. I'll post a picture or two when I take it out tomorrow.

I been eyeing these wheels for a few weeks. I'm 196lbs and looking at maybe a set of 28/32's with disc for my summer set.

No issues, they ride great and they're not bulging anymore. But if I had to do it all over again, I would just buy the rims and have my local guy build them up. Still, I'm happy with them.

About what length valve stems to get--I add 20mm to the rim height. So for a 38mm rim add 20 = 58, so get 60mm stems.

I can't get over how good they are. The pos online reviews are on-target. Honestly feels like I added susp to my roadie with them.

Yeah, I was quite surprised (and pleased) at how plush they feel. I'm riding them at 90/95 F/R, may try a little less. I'm a bit under 170 lbs.

I'm curious what about them is tubeless ready. There's obviously no deep center channel to aid tire mounting. Are there spoke holes in the rim bed? Also, did the bike shop mention a tension number? Just curious.

I don't think they would be considered tubeless ready, they have spoke holes in the rim bed, but they sealed up nice with some stan's tape.

I think I was reading around 17 on the park tensiometer. The spokes are about 1x2.1mm, which would put the tension around 148Kgf

UPDATE: Wheels are running true, no issues. But their $25 ti skewers are absolute garbage. The nut and lever seem to be aluminum painted black. The nut is so soft that it stripped when I tightened the lever, and I don't trust it now, so it's off the bike and into the recycle bin. I'll be replacing them both tomorrow.
