What Type of Cycling Jacket Do You Wear?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Take a look at the Craft Courier jacket at GearWest (gearwest.com). $55 with mesh vents in pits and back. It's a hybrid bike/XC ski/run jacket, but I just got one and love it. Quality and features of $100 jackets at nearly half the price. Hard to beat it.

Thanks, Looks nice, althought the sleeves may not be cycling specific, thy look puffier. Price is good!

The more I think about it the more I really like the looks of the Biemme.

Just can't seem to find one in my size and I think its a more colder weather jacket like the PI barrier

My Sidi shoes are still damp from yesterday's ride I even stuffed them with newspapers.

Viperz,

The Craft picture's misleading. The sleeves aren't that baggy on me - I'm 5'9" and the medium fit nicely in both length and sleeves.

I like the cycling cut of my Banff, and the packability of it, I just wish the color was not so outdated.

Recommendations anybody?

I really like this Pearl Barrier Jacket, but I think its designed more for colder weather, and I just want a packable shell.
Seeing as you don't seem to be too short on wedge, check out what the best from Europe has to offer:

Weirdly, it wasn't that useful in the winter but I'm loving now.

I just got an early birthday gift - an Etxe-Ondo Abraska jacket - it is really great - windstopper and remarkable water resistent (not water proof). It blocks wind very well and breaths good. I good caught in rain on the way back this afternoon - 1.5 hours home in the rain and jacket keep me warm and actually pretty much completely dry underneath - which is amazing to me given that it is only marketed as water resistent!

I love this jacket. I've had it about a year.

WOW, that Etxeondo and Rapha makes some nice stuff, nice quality details

Jeh, nice Marmont. It looks to be a soft shel jacket. How packable is it? can it be carried in a jersey pocket?

I got one (a rain jacket) from my LBS. Its like those clear, see-thru ones previously depicted, except bright orange. You can see what i am wearing underneath if it touches the clothing, but otherwise it makes me pretty visible in the conditions.

it's not very packable. it's a medium weight jacket, has a bit of fleece like stuff inside, it's good for the cold, and pretty water resistant.. i've never felt the rain soa k though, even here in the pacific northwest.

Has anyone tried Nashbar's Endurance Jacket?

It's one of the few jackets I've been able to find in a "tall" size. Anyone else here who's in the neighborhood of 6'5" and 215 pounds, who might have found a jacket that fits and keeps you relatively dry?

Cheers.

this cannondale morphis shell easily converts to a vest - the sleeves zip off as one piece... an awesome garment.. will probably buy another just to have for the day when the first wears out, gets lost, etc...

Got the blue one and have been very happy with it. Should have got the XL, the L is a bit tight on me. Only problem is the bottom of the zipper "puffs" out a bit while you're riding.

I ended up getting a Pearl Izumi Vagabond Jacket today. It's more street-able for my commuting, and I can pack it up in my jersey for road riding. It's a convertible jacket where the sleeves zip off and it becomes a vest. It's made of Zephyr fabric, so while not totally water proof, it should do the trick for my short commute.

While I was at it, they had a sale on the Pearl Podium Jersey so i had to get one of those

I seen an AWESOME Sugoi racing tight fit jacket, that I wanted as well, But that will have to be another day.

To a point, however it can be in the opposite direction too. The Cut is not conducive to cycling and I bet the sleeves pull up while stretched out for the bars, Plus the wind drag while in the drops could be huge

Don't black jackets make you invisible to car drivers, especially late in the day or in the rain? I would be scared to wear that jacket.

It has 3M reflective trim, and what they call Blur reflective detailing visible from back and sides. Notice in the pictures above how the jacket seems to light up with the camera flash? Although it's black, when light hits it, the micro mesh black fabric with the silver white underneath actually shows up very well.....

but no matter...

Things like this do not worry me... We all have to go some time Seriously, while it's good to be seen, it's equally important to just be aware of dangers around you. You can never assume you are visable to drivers, even if you are on fire.

Unless of coruse my wife is thinking like you and wants to get rid of me...
