2007 Cyclism Sundays Schedule On Versus

Versus recently added the 2007 schedule to their website and it seems very similar to 2006. I can't wait until the coverage begins!

I wish they'd drop the Tour du Faso, and show the Worlds. Or maybe Lombardy. Or both.

Thanks for the post. With the fall off of ratings after LA retired, I am surprised (and glad) that they are still having that much coverage. Too bad that more people don't find it more interesting and exciting than bull riding or American Freestyle Bull Fighting (and by the way those AFBF guys have to be the dumbest frickin people of the face of the earth ).

Nobody complain about missing certain races!

Otherwise you'll jinx my annual Flanders party! Belgie beer. Frites with mayo. Lion flag hanging out front. It's a night for the whole family, all my best friends and of course our big black dog "Flanders".

I've never heard of this, much less watched it. However, stupidity in action sometimes makes for good television...I might have to check it out.

Do they wear numbers on their backs, and beer company logos on their sleeves?

+1.... Watching that was like watching a bunch of Cat 5's (equipment wise).

It is a really good example of a low budget team! (especially when they were replacing the one guys chain during the one circuit, by hammering the pin in with a ROCK!)

While I'd love to see some Giro and Vuelta coverage I'm really happy
we get some of the northern classics.

They are simlar to the rodeo clowns who distract the bulls from the getting the bullriders when they fall off. BUT, there are no bull riders, and no other clowns out there unless they get in trouble. I watched it one night and all of the competitors got the snot knocked out of them by the bulls. They (the bull fighters) get points for seeing how close they can get to the bull. They even get points when they get HIT by the bull. Having grown up in rodeo country, my motto is "seen one you have seen them alll." But this is even worse. The only upside is that they claim the bulls are treated very well.

Props to Versus for coverage. We should all be grateful. I'm curious as to way the Giro coverage got axed? Ratings?

I still think the problem is one of marketing and because, frankly, unless you cycle, you really do not understand the excitement of the sport. Personally, before I got into cycling, I also never paid much interest to racing coverage. But once you are able to at least understand (if not relate) to the physiological and mental challenges they endure, you become hooked on the race. You also begin to understand the idea of how much wind effects riders. For example, anyone not familiar with cycling, does not understand how much effort it takes when a rider breaks from the peloton. They do not understand the excitement of a couple of riders neck and neck riding up a pass.

Again - America is better at understanding idiots being rammed by a bull. Which - given the state of America these days is not shocking. Hell - any fat idiot can stand in front of a charging bull. And since most of America is full of fat a$$es unwilling to participate in anything that does not involve sitting or beer (combined is better), I do not hold out much hope.

Oh - well.

Versus' Paris Roubaix coverage...

Based on previous OLN seasons, How many hours will the coverage of Paris Roubaix be on Versus?

On the site, the schedule reads 5pm ET, but with no spec on the length of coverage.

If I remember correctly, the Cyclsm Sundays are usually an hour long.

The reason I ask is that I am organizing an event at a sports bar to watch it as a group.

Thanks

It's great that there's some coverage of the TDF/Spring Classics/Tour of CA, and Vuelta schmelta - but NO GIRO???

Go figure.

Thanks for the heads up Ron.

Hopefully we'll get some more coverage if ratings are decent for the early stuff. That said, ANY Pro Bike racing on TV is good.

DVR fodder for my trainer days through early April...

Comcast just recently added the HD Versus golf channel in my area. It seems to be identical to regular versus except heavy on golf coverage. It would be awesome to catch some cycling in high definition. Anyone know the deal on this?

The marketing people at Versus are not too smart...

For example, if they'd market via bike shops, to the people who might want to watch (OLN did this a couple of years ago with "The Cyclism"), they might get some actual viewers. Even casual riders will watch bike racing. I talk to them all the time.

It's easy to do...market via Bicycle Retailer magazine...do POS materials in bike shops, people will pay attention.

This is not that hard...

Or I can just watch on cyclingtv online.

Madison Avenue "beautiful people" marketing types. They paid someone to think of that.

Really.

Honest.
