FOR SALE: 2006 Trek Madone SL 5.9 frame, fork, and headset 58cm

FOR SALE: 2006 Trek Madone SL 5.9 frame, fork, and headset (aka frameset). The frame is 58cm center to top, with a 57.0cm effective top tube.

Price is $600,
plus shipping cost.

It's used, of course, but it's really clean and in surprisingly good condition, the only damage is cosmetic and minor (detailed below). There's no sign that the frame has ever been wrecked or, for that matter, that it's ever even fallen over.

The complete bike was one of Trek's top-of-the-line at the time and had a suggested retail price of $5500 (that was real money back then!). Here's the bikepedia entry for how it was originally sold: https://www.bikepedia.com/Quickbike/...spx?item=11206

This frame is stunningly clean for it's age. It's spent a LOT of time hanging in a garage, it needs to get out on the road a lot more.

The details:
-Fork steer tube is 1 1/8" diameter (non-taper), 240mm long, the frameset comes with 40mm of spacers and a top cap.
- The fork has carbon blades with an aluminum steer tube.
- Cane Creek S6 headset
- Seat post diameter is 27.2mm
- The bottom bracket is English, 68mm (that's the threaded, "no creaking" type of bottom bracket).
- Takes a braze-on front derailleur
- Frame requires caliper (rim type) brakes, it is NOT disc brake compatible (assuming you want brakes....hey, never know).
- 130mm rear spacing
- Takes quick release hubs. Did thru axle even exist in 2006?
- The frameset weight (with fork and headset) is 1.85kg (4.1 pounds)
- Included is the seat collar, the two downtube cable stops (installed, see pictures), the bottom bracket dropped chain frame protector (that's the disc seen in the image), and both mounting nuts for the caliper brakes (they're not the "standard" type so I included them just in case they're specific to this type of frame).
- The Bontrager carbon seat post is included (it's a bit scuffed, not nearly as clean as the frame and fork).

As mentioned above, the blems on the frame are cosmetic and most seem to be the result of being bumped while in storage:
- The finish is wrinkled beneath and around the base of the seat collar clamp.
- There's a 10mm circle of decal missing on the left seat stay; the finish underneath appears to be unaffected.
- A scuff in the decal on the right side of the down tube.
- A fine line in the clear coat on the right side of the seat tube just above the front derailleur braze-on (it didn't photograph at all).
- The underside of the fork, behind the brake caliper and below the crown, has normal scuffing from road debris on the front tire.

Amazingly, there aren't any signs of any chain suck issues or dropped chain marks, the right side chainstay and frame at the bottom bracket is clean. There aren't even any rock chips on the underside of the down tube.

This is a nice, light, fast road frame in really that was the 'cat's meow' not that long ago and it's hardly been used. If you're thinking about taking your older road bike and making it faster, lighter, and more fun to ride, upgrading to this frame would be a great way to do it.

Let me know if you have any questions.
