Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This caught-in-the-act package thief video is the funniest thing that I've seen in a while.

Would have been a great day to ride.
So you can sit for four+ hours at a snoozeball game, but not one hour in a bicycle saddle?

Mysterious.

Southern California is road bike central. Normally 4th of July is more crowded up there, maybe the heat kept some away, maybe tomorrow being the actual 4th will have more riders. Still, there were enough today to cause me to be wary of descenders while climbing. A guy passed me on the lower part of the climb and a guy coming down crossed the line and ran into him. Neither was injured, and that was the worst I saw.
At the village there is a lodge/cafe they get a lot of their business from cyclists so they installed a bottle filling station outside and they always put ice out near it. When I got there the line to fill bottles was at least a dozen riders. By the time we ate and came back out there were only a few in line.

Yep. I took a beginning band class and come to find out, it wasn't as beginning... Everyone knew how to play, so the teacher took pity and handed me a mouthpiece and told me what to do. Once he figured out I could make the proper noise, he sat me down at the bass chair and said "this is yours". It worked OK, as I learned how to play everything but the French horn. My brother played the trombone, and that was fun to learn. He went on to fame and fortune in the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. DO NOT call them a marching band, either.

Going into the 12th inning in Oaktown, I better put some coffee on!

I missed a few innings because I had to go stand out in the rain, stoked to see it still going when I came back inside

Anyone notice how VV purgatory ended just about the same time this site went off the rails?

Coincidence?

My take - VV went off the rails about the same time the site went off the rails.

For example, he crashed his mom’s car, with her in it, into a car full of downtrodden guests in our country who are just trying to escape the persecution and poverty in their own country.

My Saturday AM group had 11 this week and we saw a couple more groups of at least that many while we were out.

Live, in person games are rarely snoozeballs. An in-person Yankees v. Boston game will give you a year’s worth of memories.
