Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

^^ you can even see me reflected in the window, holding my lunch. The burrito was quite good, better than Chipotle, possibly.

Being that I've been hauling a dirty softball player and related gear around for the last 10 years, I've needed something with more space. The Ford Explorer has been a great vehicle for my needs. Even though it's a 5000 lb. box, 300hp gets it down the road very nicely.

I think he took a pic of the place for Velo Vol's benefit because it's vegetarian. I suspect he got a meaty burrito elsewhere.

Ahh. I wasn't aware they played for the same team. In that case, my assumption is probably wrong.

I never had a fast car, never really wanted one. I knew it wouldn't work out. Motorcycles, too, except off road.

I drove my 65 Chevy pick up for 19 years. 6 cylinder stick, pretty slow. I had the S-10 Blazer for 18 years, 6 cylinder, stick, even slower than the pick up. I had a bunch of slower cars, too. 56 VW Bug, 36hp screamer. That one may have been the slowest. Also had a 53 Ford flathead automatic. Engine was pretty sick, might have been as slow as the Bug.

Well, the 930s can be a handful, especially when you enter a corner fast, get scared, and then try to brake.

Pretty much every car I owned before the Dodge was a 4-banger that needed revs and a heavy foot on the gas to get anywhere. After I got the Dodge, I observed to my wife that if I drove it with as heavy a foot as the other cars, I'd be in jail or dead. And it's only got 372 hp. When I've tried full-throttle accelerations, I can feel the back wheels trying to escape.

A couple of friends worked at the local Porsche dealer when I was a young guy. The result of the above was referred to as the "turbo loop".

Its not hard to get the backend sideways in the air cooled ones. It wasn’t until the 997 version that they got it tamed with the traction control systems. Funny thing is that if you try to kick out the rear by hitting the throttle, they just hunker down and take off. It’s when you lift or try to brake to slow down in a turn that you find yourself in trouble.
