Hinge Pin Replacement for Separability

My wife rides a folding trike that I've electrified using a Swytch conversion kit. We'd like to be able to take it on Amtrak, but of course it won't fit in a regular bike slot, and it's over the 50 lb weight limit for luggage. I have a notion to make it separable in the same manner as a Liberty Trike, by replacing the hinge pin with one that can be removed, so that it will then be two sub-50 lb pieces of luggage.

Questions:
- Has anyone tried this sort of hinge pin replacement?
- How would I go about finding the right size & type of replacement pin?
- What's the best way to remove a hinge pin?

Please share a better view of the top and bottom of the existing pin.

Sure thing - not much to see, just a gentle dome on both ends:
