1971 Carlton Kermesse Resto
Back in 2020, cudak 888 and I did a trade. He got a bronze-orange Peugeot PX 10 frameset and I got a 1971 Carlton Kermesse. The photo below is as he originally traded for it:
This next photo is as pretty much as I received it after cudak 888 put a lot of sweat equity into it:
This is the as finished restoration after the COVID slow down:
Detail shot of the pinch bolt lugs which had to be cut off and re-fabricated:

what a beautiful job and result!
recall the examples from this time as being constructed with the aerfoil seat stay bridge
cannot quite tell from the posted images if the frame exhibits this fitting
perhaps some of the Worksop mavens could write something regarding its employment...

I can't tell what your brakes are, but if Campi hoods fit, I have some white oem hoods i would give you for the cost of shipping. I think they are ugly, but they might just work on that bike.

The bike, without pump, tool bag, bottle cage or bottle weighted 22 lbs with the tubular wheels shown in the photo. It rides really well. It's a 59 cm frame measured center to top.

The brakes are early Weinmann 605s with later Weinmann 400 levers with Soma Campy style replacement hoods (very comfortable). I had considered the white Somas but decided that the maintenance on them would not be worth any esthetic advantage. Thank you for the offer, however.

Thank you for the kind words for the bike. Oddly, it does not have the airfoil rear brake bridge which is typical of these bikes. This is a 1971 based on the forged Zeus fork and stay ends. I have seen '72 and '73 photos with the pressed dropouts that show the aero profile bridge. The bridge that is there is a one piece unit with a central bulge to accommodate the brake pivot.
