Love that color! I guess that the CAAD 9 was the last CAAD model built in the USA then I take it? Really like the "Hand Made in the USA" call out on the rear triangle, looks dope!

Sadly, my CAAD9 is BB30. But the next time it gives me problems, a threaded sleeve adapter is going in. The problem with the new Cannondales is that they're BB30A, which is a 73mm shell...that means you can't even put a converter/adapter in it.

I'm convinced that Cannondale invented BB30A so people would quit converting their frames from BB30 to English threaded.

I had one issue with my alloy synapse BB30, when they shoved it in, there were AL. shavings peeled up and touching bearings. Took it apart, broke those shavings off, lubbed my spindle put it back together and never had a creak again until I put bike away wet. the spindle had corrosion it, wiped it off relubbed and was perfect! any bb and and bike will creak with dirty water dried leaving residue behind though. as in no different than dirty water down the seat tube and drying between your seatpost and seat tube.
I want a CAAD9 bb30 road frame for the purpose of using Beer components eccentric BB and I want a CAAD road SS with vertical drop outs. without all the seatpost tube FD bolt on ugly.

Then again I moved to hi-mod supersix DI2 disc brake for a road bike. A light weight AL framed SS road bike just seems redundant. So maybe I want a caad9 cyclocross singlespeed. as an additional bike < better choice super light TRP carbon cantilever, and not limited on tire choice.

Yep. CAAD9 was the last US made CAAD. This one in particular was the very last year of the CAAD9.

I'm always on the lookout for another CAAD with a threaded BB to replace this one if it should ever die.

Was thinking of getting a Super 6 Evo in the future, is that bike an upgrade or do you like your CCAD12 better?

bb30 hollowgram SL crank + 104 or 109mm spindle

good day all

im building my 2015 caad 10 bb30 / 68mm shell width

would like to share my case and see if you guys has any input

i had purchased a bb from c-bear product code pf42-30-r to act like a " pressfit " bottom bracket with internal cups to prevent the irritating creaks. its something i want to explore and so C-bear claimed it will aid to prevent creak.

i had purchased an used hollowgram Si spidering crankset with 175mm crank-arm taken off a bb30a bike and it came with a 109mm spindle.

as the 175mm crank arm will seems too long for my inseam, i also purchased a 172.5mm hollowgram SL crank arm that came with 104mm shoulder spindle.

i guess theres probably two ways to do it

method A - use the 109mm spindle + 172.5mm SL crank arm with 7.5mm spacer on the NDS ( apart from the 2.5mm on the DS + 1-3 x 0.5mm shims + wavy spacer on the NDS )
method B - use the 104mm spindle + 172.5mm SL crank arm with no additional spacer ( usual 1-3 x 0.5mm shims + wavy spacer on the DS )

so my questions would be

1) which model crankset / crank arm actually had the geometry changed on the NDS crank arm ( assuming Si and sisl2 onwards ? )
2) with method A - i probably will get a decent chain line but not on the Q factor
3) with method B - i probably will get a decent chain line and Q factor ? since the SL crank arms is meant for the 104mm spindle and 68mm bb shell width ?

Yeah, but that's a comparison to the Hi-Mod Evo and the CAAD12, not the pleb-Evo. My girlfriend rides a current model Evo with 105 and these two frames are pretty different.

key word being "interesting" with the focus being on too identical bikes from same manufacture, with the differences being in comparing CAAD to carbon.

That reviewer preferred the CAAD12 to the Hi-Mod Evo, so they would most likely prefer it to the normal Evo.

So, I forgot to ask if anyone else recieved a headset compression plug that does not fit into the steerer? I tried the one from my previous Evo and it didn't fit either. I ended-up getting another from a friend at Cannondale which is a departure from the old design, but I miss that old design and would like to keep it, might provide some protection in a crash. I've broken 9-bones in just four years so that's important to me, lol.

Not sure what your personal problem has been. I got a new 2018 Caad12 frame set. I went to install the plug and the cap didnt fit, it was too big (ribbed version). Neither did the older style cap (non ribbed version). I ended up sanding the newer cap down to make it work.
