One-size-fit all helmet or Not

One-size-fit all helmet vs smallest fit helmet.
Is wearing the smallest size helmet that still fits me safer? Or they both can offer very similar degree of protection?

I have a Kabuto which is one-size-fit all and a Giro which is size S. They are in the same price range. Kabuto is a Japanese brand.

If it fits, you're lucky and you'll be fine.

One size fits all usually translates into one size that doesn't fit me.

I have a small head and it took me several helmets to realize the helmets I was buying were all too big. Ask yourself.... how happy do you think you'd be with one size fits all shoes? Same applies to helmets, IMNSHO. I won't buy any helmet I can't try on first.

One size fits some is never a great fit for most. Wear the helmet that fits you best. Also I don't know this is electronics or lighting related though yes some helmets do have lights but that is not the crux of the question.

My fitting problem with helmets is that I want ones that will fit well on my bare head, but also will fit well if I am wearing an insulated ear band for cooler weather. And one that fits my helmet rain covers. Some of the helmet rain covers that I have were bought on line and do not fit on any helmets that I have ever owned. And I want a brim on the front that my rear view mirror will clamp onto.

For safety, I just want one that meets the standard industry safety standards for bike helmets, and I am more inclined to trust a known brand for that reason.
