Took a dive on my fixed today
Stupid accident on solid concrete. Scraped an elbow, twisted hbrs parallel with front tire. Bruised thigh muscle. Other than my dignity and ego I came out all right. So did the bike. Straightened the hbrs, plastered the elbow scrape, adjusted brakes. Was wearing helmet and gloves. So, no palm scrapes. An off duty EMT saw me go down and took me through shock and concussion protocols. That's the way people roll in New Zealand. He works with Wellington Free Ambulance service. I'll kick in some money to them. Fortunately I was on a slow roll or it could've been worse. Be careful out there. Cheers, mates.

Better to have ridden and crashed than not to have ridden at all. Glad you're okay.

Glad you're O.K.! New Zealand is on my bucket list to travel to after retirement. I've watched several TV shows where New Zealand is the setting and it looks delightful!

If you want to tour your best option is to check though your panniers, carry on your HB bag and rent a bike here. Welly has several LBS who do that for very reasonable prices. You won't need a visa. Just a passport. And PM me when you decide when you're coming. There may be questions I can answer. I've been living here since 2016. Cheers. 🇳🇿

It is! Try to get a flight into Oz then to Wellington. There are plenty of directs from the US into Auckland. Avoid them if you can. It's really crowded, confusing and busy. Customs is a nightmare. Wellington is the world's best kept secret. Going through customs is a breeze here compared to Auck.
