The Morkov DNS is a blow to those of you planning to ride the Cav-mobile to VG notoriety.

May he get well soon and help make things interesting in France.

Bummer for Mørkøv, another bummer for EF with Owain Doull DNF'ng.

Fortunato you were supposed to be in this break today ...

Pouring one out for Mollema and Formolo, so close! Once again jealous of ooga's picks.

my team

Tommy D a stage hunter and now a domestique for Bouwman to stay in blue

Not how envisioned it but he showed some legs today!

I feel like Nibali will be winning a stage at one point in his last Giro. I don't see him mailing it in

Demare looking good now especially with Morkov DNS

Carthy is not doing anything

Stage 8

circuit race just before the Block Wall ugh after today legs will suffer

looks like another break away tomorrow to me

GC is tough to gauge

I think its Carapaz vs Yates we shall see Sunday

Landa hanging around is always a concern He can have really big days and he can shake things up and this is his type of stage do not see him long term but Blockhaus might be his day

Bilbao Bardet Alimedia lions tigers and bears om my. Scary all look on form

The Bora Boys are lighting it up Who will support whom

Gallo I'm jealous of your Tom pick, can't believe the peloton had such little faith to let him up the road. You could see the worry later on as ineos blasted through domestiques to reign in the break.

I desperately need Fortunato and Landa to show their forms of greatness. I'm hoping to see Hugh back in action also, he's a neat guy off the bike. Pretty down to earth with wonderful dry British humour.

Well the wheels fell off my GC fantasy picks. Literally,

Landa rode well.

Good to see Bardet riding so well.

Looks like we know which Bora Boy Jai rode amazing. Great victory

With Team Ineos and Porte for a domestique hard to see Carapaz being beat

There is still allot of road left. Anything can happen.

As usual the Giro does not disappoint

I'm glad that Carapaz didn't blow it open today and was happy/impressed with Almeida fighting back over and over. I'll get a full day of work done tomorrow but will be chomping at the bit for Tuesday morning!

rest day recap!! first act of the 2022 giro in the books with plenty of action, second-guessing and hand-wringing...all par for the course. Team Poetovio/SLO in the lead, your ever-faithful curmudgeon...er...host in second and one4smoke in third. nearly the entire league is still grouped together tighter than the bora boys tho...we've all experienced having that 800 point stage and that
< 100 point stage (usually in the space of two days) so fortunes can and do swing quickly. three solid/potential "it's a trap!" stages
before the next rest day after stage 15. should be a hoot.

The course designers sure did a great job of making some unpredictable stages. What a pot pourri of folks taking their shots and finishing in small bunches.

Speaking of great jobs, this move below wasn't one...

Many resisted the pull of the sprinters who won't make it all the way. A few didn't. one4smoke in particular with both Ewan and Cav may Lord it over the mob for a bit.

I expect to be back of the pack for a while, playing the long game to Verona. And it's a long way.

My pre-race estimate was the MVDP and Girmay would quickly earn a ton of velo points but tap out in the end around 1,000. TBD with MVDP. Girmay beat that and would have done much better had he not come uncorked. He's the top point scorer as of now, by a good margin.

I think I will wind up happy with Demare as my sprinter and my notion of using my wild card for a GC rider rather than Girmay was a good one, but I may not have chosen well with Carthy. We shall see. Ciccone is doing me no favors, either.

Those unclassed riders are always a matter of looking to catch lightning in a bottle. MVDP was a relatively expensive bottle with a pretty high expected ROI. Shoulda kept him.

The Bora boys are doing well.

between miggylo, girmight and rule #87, nearly all of the fantasy squads are out a big player. expected mvdp to bounce by now but could be any day.

this second act of the giro could find the current leaders standing the hazard of a die, having set their fantasy lives upon a cast, methinks. sorry, billy s.

think slcbob is still unscathed-squadwise anyway-and could make plenty of hay while the sun shines the second half of this little gt.

Yeah. When MVDP and Girmay have their feet up at a cafe in Monaco, toasting each other with pre-opened Prosecco, my boys will be making huge moves. I bet Hugh Carthy has another 50, maybe 100 points in him.

Caleb makes it official. He's damned fast, but he doesn't climb much better than I do (not a compliment).

recap of week so far
10

The little prince channels his inner Mark Renshaw and Bini crushes the sprint and MVP for a spectacular win

Girmay is then laid low by the cork heard around the world

11

The sprinter are line up after a brutal day in the saddle and it is coming do to Demare and Gavira

Who the spokes is Dainese? asks Gavira beat soundly on the line. Viva Italia

12

Another blistering day that a break gets away. Where is Wilco?

Peloton has to chase no easy days for the Giro this week.

Great win for Oldani and Alpecin-Fenix well deserved first victory for the veteran.

13

20k The breakaway is going to make it

1k oh crap

Demare having a dream Giro just as I picked over Cavendish. My genius shines through on my switching riders and not saving it.

May the best lead out win. FDJ is the team with the best lead out this tour. They look to bring to France the Ciclamino

The wreckage big names going home Bini Bardet Ewan

The elation Bini makes both lists for this, What a well deserved victory. Huge props to Lopez who just keeps hanging around in Pink in his first Giro

14

Looks brutal Not sure there is enough for a GC selection with Sundays summit finish

This looks like it could be the sharks last chance for a big bite Still the best descender in the Peloton. If Nibali can hang in the climbing he will be dangerous going downhill

15

Its the Giro anything can happen. Put your climbing gear on and get ready to rock.

This should be the GC selection show.

Is it Landa's big moment? Will Carapaz look pretty in Pink. What about Jai with Kelderman stating he is a domestique. Can Lopez find something special?

My bet would be Carapaz but I have no idea

nibbles would have been my first choice for a stage such as #14 a few years ago and he was the first rider that popped into my head when looking at the stage.
...my rationale the same as yours. but now? not sure he's got the legs still. horrible prediction forthcoming...

Forgive. But NEVER forget.

BTW, I thought the break might make it until they said it was Tejay in the car giving advice to the EF rider.

intentional or no? intent always directly interpreted relative to current standings in the "little league."

this is hilarious. the kiss of death.

Mollema for the stage 14 win (simply because I don't have him).

Sure screwed up taking the "pocket rocket" over Demare. At least I waffled over the choice quite a bit before ultimately having brain fade.

The legs are gone from here on out...

hoping and praying your predilection...er...prediction is usually waay more accurate than mine. could desperado use those bauke points. did throw out kämna
(whom you haz) as my stage 14 pick. quid pro quo. may one of us be correct! unfortunately, like my chances at being correct (likely unlikely).
more than you but that's why it's always called a "horrible prediction" on my end. so much suck...nasa launched a rover to track my suck but the rover flipped over-
gregor samsa style-in the first ravine it encountered on the first stage of the journey. at least there wasn't cork or prosecco involved...

or you could be employing a time-honored, slcbob stratagem...hmmm...guessing the latter. no one picks mollema ftw...even me who's got him on the squad. at least
i mentioned trying to squeeze kämna onto the team and had picked him early on for a win. the game within the game...wink wink. last week is upon us. may old age and treachery
(pretty much the entire league, stylistically) and paranoia prevail over youth and ability and sanity. nibbles for stage 14?!?!

regardless of what happens in this little shindig, never forget that it's all about la vuelta.

Bora Boys

First Captain First Choose

We choose to force the selection today

Kelderman was a beast not unlike Porte a couple stages back

The shark had teeth but not enough for the kill.

Yates proves once again one bad day and you don't win the Giro. Today was not that bad day

Very impressed with Lopez they had to rip that jersey off him He gave nothing away. What a Gran Tour debut. What if the kid had some help.

Carapz is on form looking very good. Where is his team?

Landa is still hanging around.

Hindley looks amazing.

Almedia and Blibao are like a bad colds you just can't shake them

How many top tens for Inter? What a tour they are having. Possovivo in 5th wow

3 old guards still in top ten

Tomorrow should be a fireworks show
