Why Bibs or why shorts? Why????

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Work has facilities in which you can change from cycling specific clothing into work appropriate clothing, no?

Showing up at work in cycling specific clothing is pretty obnoxious whereas showing up shirtless is not?

But you do, right? It is difficult to reconcile your posts #50 and #56.

You told me to name a time and place. Sounds like you're backing out now.

So they shortened the jersey to use the space under it, rather than just use the jersey itself? Poor hypothesis.

There's no change in visible space/ad real estate; you're taking away from one to give to another.

There’s a net gain of advertising space if you replace “crack space” with “bib space.” (Unless you utilize commercial tattoos in the former case.)

Not if you had to shorten the jersey to create the crack space.

Yes, that goes without saying. I’m referring to naturally occurring, aka organic, crack space.

There was no implication that there was crack space in the first place. Even if there was, it's still a poor hypothesis - it'd be much easier to lengthen the tail of the jersey for appropriate coverage/ad space.

No Larry. EVERY elite/pro racer...man or woman...rides in bib shorts. Most now in a one piece road race skin suit. I have never heard nor heard of a single rider wanting shorts for any reason. Not once.

Why would bibs do this and not shorts?

Everyone knows that all the racers really want to wear low-slung gym shorts with no padding, but Big Gravel forces them to wear bib shorts, and has done since decades before gravel bikes were invented.

Have we talked about these yet? Get one of those plus a pair of bibs or shorts with cutouts like donkey chaps and you'd be set!

Not as easy to put adds on the pockets, that also get covered by race numbers.
