Vintage Bicycle T-Shirts

A handful from my small collection. The 1970’s Raleigh shirt is a favorite. I also like the Oklahoma one because I’m originally from OKC and used to go to the Kirkpatrick Center for various events. Anybody else have older bicycle related shirts? Share em!

Along with other gear...

I know it ain't a vintage t-shirt, but it's a t-shirt from a vintage place.

Does this count?

Id say both count! I recently visited the BBB for the first time last month. Only came home with a hat but I love it.

It’s a Singer or a Herse, don’t remember which he said. Willing to bet somebody here could figure it out just based on this simple embroidery

a couple from many years ago....

This is a Raleigh t-shirt I bought in the mid 70's from the World of Bikes shop in Davenport, Iowa. A year or so later, I bought a Raleigh Gran Sport from this shop.....

a handful of years later, in 1980, I did RAGBRAI. That was the 8th RAGBRAI. The nature of the ride has changed a lot, but t-shirts are still an important way to remember each one.

Steve in Peoria, wondering why I still have these ancient shirts??

Saw this on eBay. Probably not an actual vintage shirt, but the Huret Jubilee definitely is:

Well I’m especially in love with ringers and If the measurements are right and you decide to ever let this one go please let me know. There’s a special place in my heart for worn paper thin tees and I particularly like this graphic.

Yeah looks to be probably modern but it’s a neat one and certainly vintage in nature

Lance Armstrong... got this one quite a while ago. I don't know if 2000 is vintage.

Got this when I worked in a Schwinn Shop when they re-issued the Krate bikes - maybe 1999 or so (?)

Huh, I thought Ken was selling everything off and hanging up his hat. Still open for business?

Well, he supposedly still is. He told me that him and his wife are still moving to Italy/Canada in September. However, he seems to be having a very difficult time letting go of a lot of things and seemed just a bit emotional. Hard to blame him. When I inquired about the prices of various things he deliberated on most of them and often ended up just saying it wasn’t for sale. I quickly gave up trying and just left with my hat, which I’m very happy with.

Great guy who happens to listen to a lot of the same, often lesser known bands as me and from my generation, and I’m 34, probably close to half his age. He’s also got IWW sympathies and we talked a bit about the workers strikes of Bisbee and Jerome between the early to mid 20th century.

Anybody interested should really try to make the trip while they still can. The States are losing a goldmine of bicycle history.

The Gran Sport I have was purchased by my brother at World of Bikes in Davenport in 1975. Small world, Steve!

wow, that is an interesting "six degrees of separation" sort of coincidence!
Too bad that I don't recall many other details about my Gran Sport, despite riding it for 14 years. Perhaps our bikes would have had sequential serial numbers??!!
in any case.. I feel obliged to share a photo of my former Gran Sport. Not the fanciest bike, but I do love the paint scheme!

Steve in Peoria (about 90 minutes from Davenport)

And yet, even if so, one of them would be a Gran Sport, the other a Grand Sports, one would have a derailleur hanger, the other, not...

I would also like to see some vintage-inspired (otherwise new) shirts with vintage logos on them. Is there such a thing? Not to hijack the thread but I also collect t-shirts from out-of-area bike shops with the name and logo of the shop.

I say bring it on. I also enjoy picking up shirts at local (to me or otherwise) places that I visit.

Already some fun connections being made here!

Nice! Any insight into this “tour of the world”? If it even actually existed. I imagine it’s just a play on the idea there you can get anywhere from the port, or maybe cyclists on crazy tours utilize it?

None whatsoever: I was hoping you had a back story on that one. I do know that in Oshawa (20mi south of Port Perry) there was (and maybe still is) an active cycling community so that may be the link. My first cycling club in the 70s was based out of Oshawa.

Interesting, I might dig in a little and see what I can find. No backstory on it from me, this one was just a random find at a vintage market.

That pink? one is pretty simple, wouldn't be hard to make your own.

Kits from $20 to $50 would get you started, I did some in HS, pretty cool once you get the hang of it. Definitely takes some practice, been thinking about getting after it to make some of my own.
