Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

One day you’ll wish it was on the ground floor. Then you’ll look back and realize you screwed up.

But, yes, house problems are easy.

Today I left from home because the club ride was going north of here so I got a jump on them and did one longish climb by myself so they wouldn't have to wait for me.
Fast people showed up but we stayed together until later when some more climbing happened. We split up with some going home early so I went with them. I suggested a different route with light traffic which they agreed to but they wanted me to lead because I knew the way.

I don't mind leading but when the people behind are faster than I am, I try to keep a pace that doesn't bore them. Of course this wears me out and when the hills came I encouraged them to go on since I would be going to my house anyway, but they waited. Little mountain goat lady says "You're trying to get rid of us". I said yes, I'm dropping you from the back. Pretty good day.

Looks like the scenery on my ride. Here’s a link to my Strava: https://www.strava.com/activities/6492539259

At the risk of being called a stalker, there’s a pic of my companion on there, too.

Evening cycling activity

Real riding, obviously.

It was cold.
There was a graveside ceremony being held in the cemetery.
The Brown Squirrel took down its Christmas lights.

But, I still got it. #WinterCycling #VeloVolTough

FulGaz has another ride near there with the Serious Cycling group. Maybe I’ll ride it tomorrow.

One of their stores is in the Westlake Village area, the heart of some of the best riding in Southern California. The owners and 1 of the employees used to ride with our club. Good guys. I know a few members of the club, but not many. Sometimes when riding out there I will see a group of them going the other way and someone will yell my name but I never find out who.
