The OP has a long history with his, so it has a value to him that the rest of us might not appreciate. I seem to recall that pastorbobnlnh reworked one, and thinks highly of it. It was way above the level of the bikes I was riding in the early 60's. Anything from Schwinn was just a fantasy for me, and a Super Sport was something.

Yours truly, in the 2016 Tour des Trees, riding for my company team on a 1976 Bridgestone with 27’s. (UltraSport IIs)
I was a last-minute fill-in, at the time, a marathon runner, MTBer and terrain racer, but I did have a “road bike”.
While the old steed was remarkably competent carrying on 100 mile days on bad roads, the 2x6 was a bit of a handful in the mountains of western NC.
I got invited back in subsequent years, but rode it on a rented Cannondale Synapse.

Most of the major sponsors had company teams, so a lot of us were getting ‘paid’ to be there, lol
I’d say “sponsored privateer” would be a more apt description

Ordered Paselas this afternoon.It turned out the local bike shop was just $8.00 higher for the pair than online. I got to talking to the owner of the shop and decided to let him have the business. I was going to install them myself but decided for an extra $20.00 I will let him do it.

It helps to have a good repore with your local LBS's. They can, if nothing else be a great source for information if you are in an area where the shops have places for you to sit and jaw with each other. Some around here even have a small kitchen and will cook you a burger.
If you stay in their good graces, they'll do a lot for you if only minor things that don't require parts.

I need to replace my 49 year old tires, not sure what to get. My bike takes 27 1 1/4 so I am somewhat limited in my choices. It was suggested I get Pasela, I read reviews that were quite mixed. One review said they had better luck with Kenda. It so happens our local bike shop sells Kenda. Other than those two I don't know what else is worth considering. I did find a pretty good deal on the Pasela, two for $47.80 delivered to my door. This was through an online store called Bicycle Warehouse. They seem to have pretty good reviews, wondering if any of you have done business with them ? I haven't looked to hard but I saw Kenda K35's two for $36.50 on Amazon with free shipping.Your comments are appreciated. thanks !

This might sound like an expensive and complicated rabbit hole to go down, and it is if you simply wanted to get your old bike out and make it rideable again. There's nothing wrong with getting a $40 set of Kenda tires (or some much nicer and more expensive Paselas), throwing them on, and enjoying the bike for what it is. If you are hoping to take your performance to the next level, I'd recommend upgrading the wheels and brakes as well as tires.
