Yes, but not for sale at a reasonable price because I have only one copy.
Of course, I'd be a fool not to at least entertain an unreasonably high offer.

Camping gear has come a ling way it was fun to read Cycling as I live it Part 6. In 1970 there were no good air mattress options and the best tent recommended is a lightweight tarp. Half cotton/wool socks are the best option of the time. An ammonia gun for dogs? Cutter is still the best bug spray. No mention of "technical" clothing just t-shirt and sweatshirt but a baseball jersey is a great in-between he says. Besides that all the advice holds true and was a good article to contemplate bike camping.

Many thanks for posting these. I really enjoy them. I do not remember reading the original issue of this but reading now is nostalgically great!

The summer of 1970 is one of the times I was out riding around in the Catskill Mountains of New York State bike camping.

I had no money to even think about staying in a hotel as the author suggests as a good idea. I bathed in a river or in a stream and called it good.

The discussion of camping gear was also interesting to me. 1970 was the cusp of a new era in gear. Just a year later, the light weight camping gear options exploded on the scene rendering my canvas Boy Scout tent obsolete. I still have the nylon tent I bought to replace it.

The author also recommends down bags but I learned NOT to use those - artificial fillers keep you warm even when wet, down does not. Both are better than any heavy canvas & cotton bag - the type I started with.

Those expeditions were a true "life experience". I am sooo very glad I did it.

I was starting my junior year at UCLA, daily bicycle commuter and active member of the Earth Action Council, which promoted cycling for transportation. I was still riding my 1962 Bianchi Corsa, as well as an old English Armstrong 3-speed with the 3x4 hybrid transmission conversion. The 1971 Nishiki Competition and repurposing of the Bianchi for my girlfriend (now wife) would come about 6 months later.
