Could always be as simple as 3ttt offering low cost brand decoration- pantographing, saddle decoration, stamped bars.

Yeah, I've heard the same story. The thing is, Colnago did switch stem and bar brands. 3TTT and ITM seem to have become the brands of favour. And like DD, I haven't come across a definitive confirmation of the story - I can just imagine that there is some truth in the legend but was it a 'beef' or just a company re-direction?

Ooh! I want to hear that one.

At the age of 18 I exasperated the hell out of Peter Rich by insisting that I needed a taller bike than he wanted to sell me. He was right of course.

I ended up going to another shop and ordering a custom 26" Bob Jackson that was about an inch and a half too big for me.
