100 Miles on new ride

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

100 Miles on new ride

New Bianchi Infinito CV Disk Ultegra. Very pleased. Solid, smooth, quick and nimble. Just had a pro tune today that feels real good. Really happy with the looks as well. Had posted a few weeks ago about having the cassette changed to 11-34 which I ended up doing. Did my first 5 mile 5-6% incline and was able to handle that ok. Have to start somewhere I guess.

nice ride and bike! did you ever shift down into the lowest gear on that climb? if so, did you stay in that gear for the most part, bounce back and forth or shift up and out of it?

time for some hc climbs!

Thx, I did shift into the lowest gear in tne steepest sections and towards the end of the climb. I did bounce back and forth when it was less steep. Need to do that ride omce or twice a week to build up some strength.

Awesome bike! Thanks for posting!

If I can be so nosy; was there a long wait before you were able to buy it? I am trying to buy a lesser-model Bianchi (Via Nirone) and the local dealer is rather non-specific as to when the new stock might come in.... Next month, next year, who knows. But they do have my name and number, so hopefully I will get a call!

local Bianchi dealers did not have an Infinito in stock. In fact they had limited stock on all models. Most said they could get one in my size in a few weeks if available in the warehouse. I found a great local dealer by searching online who got me the bike in 3-4 days. Many online suppliers had the bike in stock but I was set on using LBS for this purchase. I would call around or consider on line as that seems like a long wait. Was able to get a bit of a discount.

Yes, I am pleased with the cassette set up. First climb was Mandeville Canyon. Will be looking for others now.

Love the bike! I'd take a heat gun to those stickers on the wheel and remove them. Would really clean up the look.

The Fulcrum 5s are a decent set of wheels if a tad heavy. I would be in no hurry...

you are starting at the hottest time of the year so mornings/dawn patrol will be your best friend altho i suspect you already know that with your recent corona area ride.

Yep, mostly morning rides for me. Usually between 6:30 and 9:30 am.

it seems like you are not entirely opposed to a wide socal area based on your posts. enough climbs/climbing to keep you and that 11-34 equipped bianchi occupied for quite a while.

Beautiful bike. I think Bianchi makes some of the nicest new road bikes out there currently.

Bike fits real nice into the back of the S5 with the seats down. Super easy. Just need to find the spots to ride and away I go.
