Looking for a recommendation for a cool weather glove. I don’t ride in weather colder than 45-50° F/7-10° C. I’d like something that will block the wind, with light to medium insulation, no padding, and works with my phone’s touch screen. Thanks!

I love my Rapha Classic leather gloves for cool weather. They're expensive at regular price ($100), but I grabbed mine at half off. If I were to lose them, it would hurt a little, but I'd pony up and replace them at full price - I like them that much and I wear them off the bike even more than on the bike, which makes it a little easier to justify.

Define cool weather. Down to freezing, I wear synthetic leather mechanic's gloves. That is probably your version of cool weather. Then, I progress through several levels of gloves / mittens down to these two in combination for really cold weather:

As much as I say I don't like the cold, I'm okay with just regular half finger gloves down to your low of 45°F. As far as whether a glove works with your phones touch screen, that might depend on the type touch screen you have compared toy whomever recommends a glove. Some touch screens will work with most any glove, others might be picky.

Bontrager RXL Thermal soft shell gloves have been my favorite long fingered gloves for north central Texas cool weather rides. Soft and comfy, very tough (they've withstood a few tumbles on grass and gravel, barely any abrasions). When temp dips below 50F I'll add a thin ski/winter glove liner. No conductive fingertip doodad for touchscreens, but perfect otherwise. Not sure they're still being made but my local Trek shop still carried a couplafew pair last time I was there.

Pearl Izumi had some similarly made gloves with touchscreen capability, but didn't fit my odd finger length quite right. My thumb is longer than average so if I get gloves that don't bind my thumb the little finger length will tend to be a bit too long and floppy, but I can live with that.

But stock and designs change a bit year to year. I have to try 'em to be sure they fit so I buy full finger gloves locally.

Sometimes Walgreens and CVS carry some remarkably good and cheap winter gear -- insulated gloves, liners, socks, cheap tights for wearing under jeans for casual winter rides and commutes. Check 'em out. I got a great pair of thick insulted winter gloves from Walgreens a couple of years ago for $10 or less, equal in quality to some very expensive wool and goretex ski/hiking gloves I bought about 30 years ago for motorcycle commutes.

Yeah, everybody's temperature response is different. The OP's need to only find something for 45-50 degree weather, for myself would be met with probably any of the longer finger versions of the all-round short finger gloves out there. Examples like Giro Bravo LF or Spesh Body Geometry Sport LF, etc

Cross country ski gloves. Lightweight with just some grippy bits on the palm. I wear them down to freezing and they keep my hands warm. One pair I have has the little patch on the index finger so I can use my phone. Think I got them at TJ Maxx for under $10 a pair.

If so, how do you deal with the leather palms? I mean, keeping them clean? My gloves always get covered in snot and other grime, and I just throw 'em in the laundry. Guessing that won't work with these?

I love everything I've bought from Rapha, and these look perfect for those days that are in-between half-finger gloves and winter gloves.

Yup, those are the ones - I snagged a black pair for 50 bucks last year.

I haven't had the need to clean them yet, to be honest. I've had them just over a year, I wear them all the time and I don't baby them, but they still look new, more or less. Maybe the DWR treatment on the fabric portions is to thank?

I ride in the cold down in the 20's if no wind. The only gloves that work for me are rag wool gloves with liners that I buy at Menards or similar type box store. These are great but they have to have wool on the outside it is great and an liner inside. They allow full movement of fingers at least if they are not frozen.

Mrs. NoWhammies bought me a pair of Gortext riding gloves. They are five finger gloves and my hands toasty! When the temperature drops to single digits, I pull those gloves out and have no trouble riding or changing gears. Can't recommend them enough.

You could have 3 pairs in rotation, for the price of one pair of "cycling specific" gloves.

Not much good in wet/wind as the temps get closer to 0 C/32 F, but above that, quite good.

First, I need to say that I run warmer that most ... I like Craft nordic ski gloves for temps from 30 to 50F. This was last Sunday with temps below freezing all day, I did a gravel/adventure century ride - my hands would get cool when riding into the winds, but good.

I have those gloves. The fleece does almost nothing to stop the wind. Any breeze about about 5 mph cuts right thorough them. Funny thing about cycling, you generate your own wind. They don't work very well for riding. They are almost like not wearing gloves, except you have seams digging into your hands.

I have some Pearl Izumi Cyclone gloves with no padding in them that work extremely well from the low 50s down to the mid-30s. Unfortunately I don't think they make them without padding anymore.

45nrth makes what looks like a nice cool temperature glove in the Nøkken. They look like my PI Cyclone gloves but with no padding. I've seen them but I haven't tried them yet.

and works with my phone’s touch screen - I haven't been able to find a glove that was both warm enough and worked well with a phone screen

+2 And as chainwhip mentioned, you can have several pair. Colder temps generate snot so gloves need to be washed often, preferably after each ride.

Just bought Pearl Izumi Elite Gel Full Finger Gloves and wore them this morning for the first time. Comfortable with a small amount of padding and the fore finger and thumb work on a touch screen. Work well for $50.

Interesting suggestions in that there seems, for some reason, that when discussion turns to long finger winter gloves, that there is a preponderance of suggestions made that have no padding, and no protective palm materials in cases of taking a spill (ie. some of the main reasons to wear cycling gloves).
