Could you bring this lack of cars and silence in Belgium please? Just for a week or so? I could thank you with a beer or chocolate

Nothing quite like hitting one of your favorite routes and finding it freshly paved

A few pics from the Province Lands trail in the Cape Cod National Seashore - my absolute favorite place to ride a bike:
And a few other pics out and about while getting time in the saddle:

I grew up in the Hawksnest/Spruce Roads area! We rode our dirt bikes, motorized, not really too many MTBs back then, on the backroads. We rode at the cranberry bogs and along the high tension wires service roads! Nobody bothered us!
I was 16/17 and was soon getting my license…
We raced our race cars, 1969 340 Dart Swinger…these were amazing cars, at Spruce Road.
Lucky we survived the parties at the end of the road!
The 1/4 mile was marked out and some epic drag races took place there…Mew England Dragway record holders would show up with entire crews and stupid amounts of would $s change hands!
Insane speeds!
Great to grow up and live on Cape Cod!

I have “Rescued”, many people not prepared for the Province Land Trails…! Always bring extra water and granola bars for the unprepared people and their poor pets! Even on the Cape Cod Canal, people are not aware of the dangers to their pets and themselves! I worry most about the animals!

I remember seeing the tire marks and beer cans at the end of Spruce Road and thinking that it was a miracle that nobody had ended up unexpectedly airborne and splashed down in Walker's Pond yet.
From the start of the road, to the end, then turn in to the 'new' development (it's at least 20 years old, but still new to me), to the end of that, out and back to the start is a little over 3 miles. Do that a few times and you can you can get a decent ride in without ever seeing a car. Which is a rarity on the Cape in the summertime.

I lived there until I was 3 (early 70's) and when I was in college (late 80's / early 90's). Mom still lives in the house, and if you played hockey at Harwich High in the early 70's my dad may have been your coach.

Another km century ride (I guess ) today as I am off from work until tomorrow. Mostly different route, but I touched upon the same road from other side (last photo below), just went down to the end and climbed back up.

Today’s ride to Mathews Va. Mobjack. Strong wind when out of the trees. This ride made over 100 miles for the weekend. Including Friday.
