700x30 road (but also some gravel) tires
I have a rim-brake road bike that has clearance for up to 30mm tires. What is a good, reasonably priced tire, that I can ride mostly on road but not be afraid of a hard-packed trail or two if I get off the beaten path.
I generally ride Continental 23c GP4000s (I still have a pair leftover from before the 5000s came out) on my road bikes. Open to any brands.

I use Conti Grand Prix 4 Season, but the final size is determined by the rim. On my OEM WTB i23 rims, the 28 mm Conti runs about 31-32mm at 70-80 PSi, a little narrower on a narrower rim.

probikekit.com has Vittoria Rubino Pro, 30mm, two-pack for $59. Shipping is flat $9.99 up to $179, then free. I put a set of them on my Soma Smoothie with Zonda wheels. I have them paired with latex tubes and the ride is very good. I cannot comment on durability, yet, but Vittoria tires have been excellent, IME.

I second the Schwalbe G-One Speed 30mm recommended above. Used the GP 4000 for many years. But since I discovered the G-ones 4 years ago it has become the goto tire for all our (my wife's and mine) bikes. Try them you will be pleased.

I'll third the G-One Speed recommendation. I haven't run them in a few years, so I don't know if they've changed, but they're a really nice tire.

Schwalbe Marathon. My last pair (28c) lasted me over 9000km with only one flat in all that time. Have now replaced them with a new pair in 35c, and they're just as good.

As mentioned by someone else, Vittoria Rubino Pro’s come in a 30c. I have them on my Black Mountain road bike and am happy with them. They’re primarily a road tire, but do have some tread for hard packed dirt roads or dry gravel.
