SpeedofLite ,

Can I say that I just LOVE these vintage reviews that you post? Each one has so many gems, especially if you look at the ads. I found one of your posts that had a review of the best buys in 1984, including the Bianchi Limited that I bought brand new and still own.

Things I learned today: I had no idea that Andy Hampsten was superstitious about even-number gears in his cassette. He also has a good point about losing momentum when going from a 53 to a 39 rather than a 42.

Thanks again for posting these, I look forward to the next installment!
- Melissa

Great thread. Does anyone else read it for the ads, too?
I liked when Andy said he prefers a "wider range," like 12-21.

I'd like to see another Buyer's Guide article, like the 1985 that shows some bikes 4x-5x as expensive as others, and after all this time, we realize they were not really that far apart. Great indication of the changing times, yen vs. lire, etc.

I've posted all Bicycling Buyers" Guides from 1984 through 1991 already, but it appears I missed 1992.
I seem to recall posting Buyers Guides of years prior to 1984, but those didn't turn up in the Search.
Just do an Advanced Search on "Buyers Guide" in the title and "SpeedofLite" as the poster.
If the Buyers' Guide was posted as a PDF rather than as scanned pages, then I provided a cloud link to the document.
However, that link expired 1-2 weeks after the posting so some Buyers Guides might not be accessible to you from the original post's link.
If that's the case, just shoot me a PM and I'll make it available to you.
