M2 with 1-1/2 OD head tube seems like it would be 1-1/8 ID with 1/8 inch tube wall. M2 was higher end so even for Speciailized that would make since. Worth the road trip.

This is a '93 M2 and that's a fat headtube. I'm fairly certain all the alu M2 frames used the same 1-1/8 spec.

There is some overlap with 1" Stumpjumpers and the switch to Aluminum M2 frames, I have a purple/green fade M2 that is 1".

I think the first year or maybe two of the M2 frames were still 1" headtube.
