My coworker has been talking about attaching a wheel and motor to a rear rack for ages, and I had been trashing his designs and saying he is full of it. Dude asks me to make a couple cuts in the metal for his rack. I laugh at him but oblige, and he goes home, bends it, and a few days later shows up with this.

there is a potentiometer and a popsical stick he uses as a throttle, I think he got the wheel from some sort of scooter. Thing rips, it beat my road bike easily.

anyone seen something like this? I feel like a jerk for trashing his idea for so long. Don’t steal this idea, we work right next to Sequioa Capital (rich dudes who throw money around) and he should totally get funded

I'm not sure which part of this system you don't want us to steal, but in my view there is plenty of prior art for this

Very interesting, but there are many friction drives being sold commercially (look at Rubbee). Also, there's an individual on endless sphere that produces a very light version of the same concept. One of the biggest challenges is producing something that will function in the rain since they depend on friction.
