Here's the Pirelli for $80.

Here's the Conti for $75.

Found those in under two mins on google. There are other sellers offering them at similar prices, and it looks easy to get free shipping, too.

Looks like I just saved you some money. You're welcome.

And $58 at Western Bike Works for the non-SGS and $68 for the SGS. Same price at Moose Jaw. And you don't have to use Amazon.
Yeah, they're on sale, but that site has good tires on sale constantly. The idea that a tire like this pushes $100 is just not true.

Why are things normal? I cannot understand the normalcy. I mean stuff over time getting hit with inflation like every other product in the world has experienced over the years...who does that?

Good anything will cost money it is just the facts of life, Rudy! Also over a given period of time eventually those prices will go up and sometimes will inflate higher with shortages or global events and on rare occasions prices will settle for a few years and even rarer go down but usually that comes from the technology becoming more widespread and easy to manufacture and maybe less of a going down and more settling.

Saving 5 - 10 bucks by ordering online and having to wait 2 weeks or longer for a set of tires is not something that I like doing. I prefer to walk in my local store and get the tires I want right away, Never purchased anything online yet, I always shop in person

Continental GP5000s are expensive enough for me. I certainly wouldn't buy anything more expensive than that, but given that they're light, fast, and durable, a decently high price tag is to be expected.

High quality items had always a high price tag whether it is concerning tires, frames, wheels, headsets, pedals and transmission stuff.

You can also get "cheap rollers" for your bike if you lower the quality/performance bar accordingly.

If 26 or 28mm tubeless are of interest, excel has two packs of Pirelli P- zero for $98. I got some 28mm several months ago. I'd buy more, but I've bought too many in the past and had some rot before they got used. I removed a Michelin tubeless that had cracks at the tread/side wall transition. I've got enough for at least two years. I've got two bikes running 25mm IW hookless rims with 28mm tires that measure 31mm installed - the same as the outside rim width.

Your paying for technology, advanced materials, advertising, etc etc etc
Same as in the "olden days"
Back in the 90's??? I paid $75 for Vittoria Corsa CX sewups...
Don't want to pay that much...buy less expensive tires...
A comparable vehicle tire is far more expensive...don't compare apples to oranges.

if you have ‘never purchased anything online“, then that explains why you are so clueless about Amazon’s shipping speed. You should try it sometime.

I am a big in-store shopper and even I know about Amazons shipping times. Maybe shipping to Canada sucks.

The link is for Amazon.ca and shows that ordering today will result in delivery on Thursday, which I presume applies to Canadian addresses...I'm sure it's only that slow (four whole days!) because today is Sunday.

I, too, like buying from an LBS when I can, but I understand that often (not always) means no discount from MSRP. But I don't then complain about prices since I am choosing to pay more.

Yet ironically it's WesternBikeWorks' sister site (BTD) where the OP's originally found $100+ examples reside (post #24). A bit odd in that one of his examples (Conti TT 5k) the tire is being evidently listed at 20% above MSRP and about 60% over what was shown by Koyote available at backcountry.

I get and appreciate this. There are many things I do this with as long as the prices are within reason. However, if I can order tires online, and get them in about 3 days and save $100, yea, I will be doing that.

I doubt the OP is actually interested in buying those tires. I suspect he just looked around for the highest prices in an attempt (a weak attempt, that is) to support his point.

Last time I bought tires for my truck, they were $800 and those were on sale as normally they are $265 each. Sad thing is, my wife's car tires are more expensive, luckily she only drive about 5k a yr, so they last a long time.

Yea my son was looking at a low milage used car as his 2004 Honda Civic was needing replacing. He ended up buying new as he got a better deal than buying used.

Last bike tires I purchased were Schwalbe Marathons 47-622 for my 29er.
$86 for a pair April 2022 on ebay from a San Diego area bike shop.
Amazon has the same tire/size for $48 a pair today.

A quick look at prices from Chain Reaction, in-stock road tyres range from £8 (Michelin Dynamic Classic) to £90 (Pirelli P-Zero Tubular). Most expensive tubeless are £75 (Vittoria Corsa Speed G2.0).
In general, tubeless tyres tend to be in the premium category. The real cheap junk is rarely (if ever) tubeless specific. There are tyres to suit all budgets and more choice than ever before.
