Question 1.5cm Stand-over height enough?

Hey guys, I'm eyeing a frame that has an ideal reach for me. However, the geometry seems a bit unusual. The seat tube is 555mm while the top tube is 550mm. Generally, I've seen seat tubes shorter. I believe this is why the stand-over seems a bit close. I'd have about 1.5 - 1.6 cm clearance. That enough?

Need more information, what kind of bike and for what purpose? A women's bike will have shorter tt comparative to a mens due to longer legs shorter torso, though 55/50 seems extreme for that. Seat tube can be measured CtC or CtT, having a CtT of 55 could still have a CtC much smaller perhaps giving more standover than you realize. To know what you're standover is, you need to look at the actual standover of your current bike and the bike you're looking at to know what your actual standover is. If its actually only 1.5cm standover, I would be fine with it on a road bike only if the reach is fine, much less so with a mtb where I have a higher chance of coming off the seat and into the toptube. On a hybrid I just wouldn't care.

Thank you for your input. It is a mens road bike, racier style. I wasn't aware that seat tube can be measured in different ways. I'm not quite sure the difference between CtC vs CtT. Anyway this link has the geometry of the frame. Unfortunately I cant most the geometry chart here

Thank you

Forgot to mention I do know the stand-over heights. Current bike is 775mm, new bike would be 798.8mm. My inseam is 815mm

It's not going to affect your fit on the bike, but it is pretty marginal. Should you ever be sprinting and come off the pedals or throw a chain you might wish it had more clearance! It sounds like an old-school frame style with a horizontal top tube.

I use to ride way oversize frames for me and stand over was non-existent on some. Stand over shouldn't be a criteria to not try out a bike if everything else about it looks good to you for it's fit. If it comes down to several bikes, you might use that for eliminating one.

Regardless of whether it has any stand over or not, you can always just lean the bike when you stop if you need the clearance. Even today, when I stop, I usually will find myself still sitting in the saddle with one foot on the ground and the other on the pedal ready to go!
