Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Epididymitis

I have epididymitis, an infection,or inflamation of the epididymis the duct on the back of the testicle. It started about a month ago, as a slight pain in the right side testicle, mostly noticed after riding. It went away within a week or so, and reappeared 2 days ago. Yesterday it was back with a vengence and hurt pretty badly, so I went in, and saw my doctor. She ( yes a she) sent me for an ultrasound this morning that ruled out anything else. She started me on the antibiotic cyproflaxacin.

Has anybody else had this? Is it cycling related? Before this, I always was very comfortable on my bike, and had an excellent fit. I am in good condition, 34, 5'10" 172lbs.

I don't think thats what he meant but I guess you need to go work your farm a little more before you start reading.

I hope everything is okay, I don't think this is very common as I havent heard people complain about it too much on the forums(but that might mean they arent secure enough to talk about it).

I have no problem with a woman doctor, just a woman, other than my wife, well, checking my parts out.

I'd think you'd be amazed at how little interest there was outside of medical.

I had the same thing, for no reason, before I got back into cycling. Painful, and the antibiotics seemed to clear it up. It took a long time for the pain to go away though.

It can be due to an STD (and often is) but it certainly doesn't have to be.

https://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic166.htm

Actually that link says over 35 years of age it is less likely to be an STD.

You had an ultrasound of your junk? Did you get the DVD and post it on YouTube?

Not that I'd be interested.

Best wishes for a full recovery and many years of pain free cycling.

it's always a thrill getting ultrasound gel spread on to your junk to enhance the image, just in case there's a tumor.

Means nothing, she could have cheated on you. Or maybe Peter is bored of his usual vacation spot and has been trying other nearby resorts that arn't quite as clean.

And how much is that? I believe the jury is out on that. It seems with the human body that the smallest conditions or actions can result in problems. ...And not one of my medically educated friends/relatives has yet disagreed with the idea that we really have a lot to learn about the human body. That said, I do think statistics can be a big help. Now all we need to do is get a million+ cyclists to divulge any medical conditions they've had in the crotch region.

I had it once. It was right about the time that Lance had cancer. A lot of people were talking about testicular canser and is scared the crap out of me.

I also had a woman Dr. and it is no fun getting your junk checked out in a clinical environment. You are so worried about not getting aroused, that it does the turtle on you, which is even worse.

I had done some heavy lifting a few days before, and the doctor told me that that can cause irritation and bring on an infection. It had nothing to do with those three $20 hookers and the sheep.

I noticed you neglected to mention the transvestite midget. I would know, I was filming.

How long did it take for you to get over it?

How long to get back to cycling?

I guy on my team got it back in March, and it took him about two weeks to get over it. He was in A LOT of pain, and we had to take him to the ER after a race.
