Frame Failure?

Is this the end of my 2002 Bianchi Vigorelli?

I caught these cracks while wiping down the bike after an easy ride. Must have been welded on a Friday afternoon. For what it's worth, I weigh in at 200lbs even and have never thrashed this bike. Bummer. These things are expensive.

Does anyone have any experience with Bianchi warranty repairs. I don't even know what their warranty terms were for the 2002 model year.

that is definatly manufacturing error, i'm not sure about bianci, but almost any reputable company, would replace it. Go to your LBS and they should take care of it for you.

That is definitely a premature failure, probably, as you suggest, the result of some very faulty joining. I do not think you'll have too much trouble getting the frame replaced, but please keep us advised.

Take heart, Bianchi is really good on warranties these days (usually), so take it to a Bianchi shop and they should set you up no prob. I would advise going through a shop though if at all possible, especially if you bought it from a shop. We carry a little more clout on the phone than Joe Schmo consumer (though it really shouldn't be that way, it is).

I took the bike to my LBS and the good news is that Bianchi is going to warranty my frame. I am going to be charged $125 by the LBS for disassembly, shipping, and reassembly of my components (with new cables/tuneup) on the new frame. Unfortunately, Bianchi says that if I want steel and celeste for my new frame, I am going to have to get a 2003 frame with 'compact' geometry. It won't have the look I liked so much. Is a sloping top tube an improvement over the old horizontal top tube?
