how big is your collection?
got thinking about this at work ive seen some simply massive collections of really nice stuff and some small collections of incredible stuff so i was wondering how many bikes AND FRAMES some of you have (not just vintage) and what you think the best peice(s) of your collection is
maybe its been done before and some one will probably kindly post a link to the existing thread
ive got 2 bikes ready to go 1 in the process and 4 frames waiting for there own build or for me to switch parts around all vintage too!
and i think my favorite may be my early 70s holdsworth mistral mostly becuase of the ride quality but also becuase its just plain cool! the px10 is in a close second and may become my number 1 once its done

My wife is very thankful I show some serious self control with my car and sailboat hobbies.

I currently have 5 bikes (see signature). Unfortunately, the two oldest are out of commission, waiting for time in one case and parts in the other. This weekend I am leading a project to clean up and restore bikes for a local charity, so my parts stash will come in handy.

I'm not counting my wife's bikes(2 going on three).
I have 15 bikes that are built and a 16th I'll be working on soon (Palo Alto frame). There are about three others that are in various build stages that I haven't gotten around to selling yet. Maybe I'll do that this weekend.
Best is a funny word...best to ride? How? Best in the eyes of a c/v forum? I have a few bikes I think are pretty special, but the most special to me is probably the schwinn triplet. I trash picked it with my dad 26 years ago and it's the bike that really got me into cycling. My wife and me ride it all over town and it's a LOT OF FUN; she especially likes the attention and comments.

Big enough so I currently do not know the exact number.
Highlights are the 1973 CID/Eisentraut (one of fewer than thirty made) and the Alfio Bonanno, possibly the only example of his work stateside. Both superb riders.

Hmmm, I have 5 solo bikes, all vintage and fully functional. We have a tandem, vintage and fully functional. Finally, my wife has a solo bike, vintage and fully functional except that the wheels and tires are old and it has been on a trainer for a long time.
As to purpose, my 5 solo bikes are a tough puzzle. The Masi is the clear choice for long distance rides. The UO8 is equipped with lights and a rack for commuting and utility. The Bianchi and Raleigh are also good fast, long distance bikes. The Bertin? I'm not sure what to do with it.
None are for sale at this time.

It was down to a 74 MGB GT or a 73 Saab 99LE. Since I loved to ski, the Saab won out.
Priced right, low miles, but automatic?

Define "collection." I have a bunch of bikes, but they're all riders and yes, I do use them all: a pair of road bikes (a Bianchi and a 70's Soma), a touring bike (modern Pake frame), two that are dedicated commuters (one that's more or less a road bike, the other for icy/snowy conditions), a rigid mountain bike (90's Balance), and a hybrid-to-cyclocross Giant that's awesome for doing a different kind of off-road riding. For project bikes I have a track bike I hope to sell in the near future, an old Peugeot that's almost Craigslist ready, and an old Trek MTB converted to a commuter that's currently out on Craiglist. I also have a full-susser frame laying about waiting for me to finish acquiring parts for the build.

Between tourers, sports tourers, century bikes, go fast roadies, gravel grinder, and let's not forget the beer getter, I'm at about 10 riders. More in parts and frames that don't seem to get put together. None of it is real high end, but each seems to serve a purpose. As I've amassed a little nicer collection, I find I need fewer and not more as they do their primary thing well and then some.

Looks to be a 1976, but an automatic. That would kill it for me. A '72 Tii would fit the bill, black on black, please. With Bilsteins, HD sway bars and Recaros. Don't forget the sunroof
