This or that for Classic Bicycles Auburn?
I'm doing my best to plan ahead for Classic Bicycles Auburn in August and need to decide which bike(s) to take to the show. So...which one, a Murray Serotta 7-Eleven team bike (ready to show), or a Merckx Motorola team bike (a work in progress)? Which would you rather see in person?

I like the Murray more I think - but that Merckx was a real team bike? I see the number plate tab. Anyone else want to play or share what they want to bring?

The Murray was likely Andy Weaver’s based on custom geometry. He retired from racing after the ‘84 Olympics. In ‘85 Ron Kiefel became the first American to win a stage of the Giro d’Italia. He was riding a Serotta-built Murray with this same paint scheme. The stage ended in Perugia, where I was lucky enough to live for a few months in the early 2000s.

That Murray looks a tad small to be Andy Weavers, do you have a seatube and top tube measurement?
I haven't seen Andy in years; for folks who don't know his name, he was one of America's great and consistent time trial specialists. He also did races such as the Red Zinger and many others. A wonderful all-around nice guy. Last I checked he was an architect outside Boston.

You're coming in from Cincinnati, 204 miles. I'm coming from the wrong side of Chicago, 235 miles. I plan on driving my Mini with 6 full bikes and luggage. What do you mean "space issue"?

I’d love to see more from the rare, especially in the Midwest, west coast builders - Merz, Lighthouse, DiNucci, Tesch, Ritchey…maybe a Wizard.

The "Murray's" are cool and I like em and we know Eddy was a king of brandwashing early on, but this far down the line, I want to see the real thing.
Of course I would have to attend to see anything so what do I know.
