I should probably post this in 50+ but starting here. My near vision had always been ok (I wear contacts for distance) even with contacts in, but in the past few weeks I have noticed that my near vision has gone to crap. I use the computer at work and it's becoming a challenge. I know it's "normal" to need reading glasses/cheaters at my age (presbyopia literally means old eyes) but it's quite frustrating.
I know they make eyedrops that can treat this, I may have to try some. Or else wear the cheaters around my neck like a stethoscope.

I use them. I have 2 of the $85.00 2 of the $65.00 and 2 of the $40.00. They work fantastic for me. The $85.00 have a thicker pad I use for long rides. The $65.00 dollar shorts are the $40.00 with an extra 1.5 inch gripper hem on the legs.

The climbs hereabouts tend to be covered in trees, so I've had the experience where the Garmin had me way off the road, which would seriously impact the elevation - since the hill itself is quite steep, so the road switches back a lot. And when I tried to make another climb a 'Starred Segment', I'd get half a mile up it and the Garmin would tell me I was off the segment and stop.

Been gone for a bit, but it's good to be back. I had some schedule challenges, a nasty cold, and some motivation struggles that kept me off the bike for a while, and likewise didn't feel motivated to hang out here. I'm back on my bike on a more regular basis over the last couple of weeks, and threw some retail therapy at my motivation with the purchase of a new (used) MTB. C'mon UPS!!
My youngest daughter graduated HS a couple of weeks go, and has just 5 more weekends of travel softball tournaments. At the end of Sept, she will be off to college. It's going to be a very different lifestyle for my wife and I. For the last 10 years, softball has dictated the schedule of our life pretty much every day, all year long - practices, lessons, games, travel, etc. It's been an exciting journey, and I'm bummed it's coming to an end, but I am looking forward to slowing down the pace of our life a bit...and riding my bike more...and building some stuff...and maybe playing music again...

recall that time - for us it was the start of the start of empty nest
but we were fortunate to have the youngest around for the summers - unlike his older brother who was basically gone / never returned after he started fresh year of college
there are some benefits of course - with no sports / travel ball / activities etc more time for whatever - including bikes

Kids gone = clothing optional in the house!

Not for me, ever. I have a Greyhound, whose nose is just at bum level. And cold. And wet.

My wife wore monovision contacts for years with no problems so when she had cataract surgery, the doc talked her in to monovision lens replacement. It was the worst thing that she ever did. She now has two pair of glasses to fix both her near and far vision.
