Source for old school cleats?
In the thread titled "70s Colnago" I posted a photo of the classic road bike I have acquired.
Like everyone else here, I have been riding clipless for decades, but I want to ride this bike "period correct" with the original Campy road pedals. I have to find a pair of shoes with slotted cleats.
Does anyone still make new pairs of these?

What size shoes?
Do they have to be nail on metal cleats? I have some old Pumas (plastic slotted cleats) and a pair of nos Sidis (bolt on plastic slotted cleats). And a pair of Bata Bikers (no slots but period correct).

A buddy was asking a similar question recently. To my knowledge, there aren't new shoes that are specific to slotted cleats. The best compromise that I'm aware of has been to use slotted cleats that use the Look bolt pattern with new shoes that have a retro appearance. I think the Vittoria 1776(?) was a popular model for this purpose.
A backup might be to find some traditional leather touring shoes and nail some TA Anquetil cleats to them....

Got tired of repairing my old Adidas shoes and replaced them with these this year.
Super comfortable, lightweight, stiff grippy soles, no cleats.
You can trust the sizing chart on the website, it’s accurate based on my experience.

LOOK system (3-bolt cleats) Edit: shoes and Exustar track cleats are the easy solution. (The $25 cleats, not the velodrome only much more expensive ones, Sadly, I don't think Exustar is still making them but they are around. That price is long gone. Now it's the free market.) The cleats are aluminum (so first class grip on chrome pedal plates and killers of aluminum plates) and beautifully shaped and thought out. Easily the best cleat I've seen in my 50 years of slotted cleats.

I'm drooling over those Ribo and SVB shoes. I couldn't find anything like them when my last pair of touring shoes bit the dust in 2014 or so. I like my flat pedals and Five Ten Freeriders, but the bike (1973 frame) is crying out for quills or rattraps and touring shoes....
Also, Yellow Jersey outside of Madison, WI may be a source of cleats.

I put some Yellow Jersey cleats on a pair of Dromarti road shoes (modern construction, classic looks). They work great now but I had to widen the slot first, because the slot was too narrow and bound up on the pedal cage. I used a 1/8" burr (rotary file) in a Dremel to widen the slot, a 10-second job.
I also tapered the forward edge of the cleat to make it not catch on the pedal as your foot enters the toe clip. Did that on a belt-sander, also quick'n'easy, but would be harder if you don't have a belt sander.
I also got some nice Keirin cleats from Japan, I forget the brand, let me know if you want me to look them up. They're around here somewhere...
