Show us your Dogs....

So I have not seen a thread for all us Dog lovers. Letís show off our beloved Canine friends..These are our German Shepherd Rottweiler mixes Bella and Piper, Piper has the floppy ears, she looks more like their mama who is a Shepherd/Rottie mix and Bella takes after their dad who is an all black German Shepherd. We have had Bella since she was a puppy at 9 weeks old, we acquired her littermate Piper in March 2019 when they were 16 months old and Piperís family could no longer care for her.

We also have Barney a 14 year old Wire Haired Jack Russell Terrier mixed probably with Rat Terrier, we adopted him last Thanksgiving from the Shelter. He had one owner his entire life until the man had a serious accident that left him unable to care for Barney. Poor guy was at the shelter for 6 months until we saw him. So we rescued him from the Shelter and got his Diabetes Insipidus under control with medication as he was drinking constantly and peeing constantly and now he is like a new dog.

My Olde English Bulldogge, "Sunny" babysitting a friend's little girl. He's going on about 9 or 10 years old now. I inherited him from a terminal cancer patient when he was about 3. He does NOT climb fences or trot home with dead cats in his mouth. (He likes the *****es that do though) For that I'm thankful. But he will stalk unsuspecting guests and at a dead run, will body block them from behind to take them down . . . all in good fun.

Yeah. And until just the last year or so, he was seemingly ageless. But he is fading now, I am sorry to say. He was a rescue from the pound, so I am not too sure of his heritage, but I would guess all or mostly collie. There are white collies out there that look just like him. Even though I got him from the pound, he was brought in by his previous owner with all his papers, so I know his exact age. When I take him to the vet, they treat him like a rock star and every one has to come see the ancient dog. When he was younger, and my sons were younger, he used to herd them all around the house and yard. That was deeply satisfying in ways I have trouble articulating.

He is fading, but he is still going along and is asleep at my feet now.

Jim

And another of Rikki. Not the most flattering of either of us, but it gets us right anyway. Jim

I think it's really funny--and cute. I was looking for the dog's face up by your stomach, then I saw it by your knee. Both crahsed out.

At home I have a photo of me and my cat that my ex took one night. I had been out watching football and having a few drinks. After dinner I crached out on the floor leaning up against the couch. She said the cat, which had a total man crush on me, walked over, studied me for a few seconds, walked around me and then laid down next to me, pretty much in the exact same position I was in, and went to sleep.

I'm sooooo sorry for your loss!!! We have lost 3 dogs the past 2 years so I know how it feels, our bonded littermate Doxies went within 11 months of each other, I had them from the time they were 9 weeks old until they were 13.5 and 14.5 we miss them so much, then in August we had to say goodbye to our 10 year old Chihuahua mix Paco, we adopted him in 2018 from the shelter after one of our doxies passed so he could keep the other one company and he had lung disease from living with a smoker and we knew he had limited time left, the prednisone helped him for almost 2 years. It's hard

Until just recently he was doing really well. But in the last year, he is starting to go downhill. For a while there, I was thinking he might go for the record (29 years old, if I remember correctly), but I will have to settle for oldest dog in the neighborhood I think.

Isabelle, our almost 4 year old Lab/Border Collie mix, she has been with us 3 years. My oldest son traveled from here in CT to Houston 3 years ago with several friends hauling two trailers full of donated supplies for hurricane Harvey relief. One of his friends adopted Izzy from a Houston SPCA shelter. After a month he realized he could not keep her and my son brought her home. Very friendly and skittish, gets along with our cat, hates the neighbors cat.

Izzy under her favorite tree.

Izzy and Millie sleep on the couch together.

Hello

Hi, my name is TWEETY and I live down in the valley on JACK POT's farm. I see where he posted that crazy Rot, LOKO on BF. LOKO is nuts & jack is a crack pot. Without me and his chica he and LOKO would be lost or in the pound. I like it down in south texas because I don't have to deal with jack and LOKO's BS. I posted "like"s for every doggie here except for LOKO. I hope all you pups have it as good as me, 20 acres and raw meat every day plus I got horses and cows to tend. Only downside is when crack pot and LOKO show up but even then I can get on his I Pad and check out BF Y'all stay safe and remember who your real best friend is and ALWAYS will be

BTW jack is the 1/2 & 1/2

I was going to post a smartass picture of my cat with the caption "The Perfect Dog" but after reading ilikebikes ' touching post I remembered how hard I have grieved over several dogs in my time. I honestly have grieved over a dog harder than over my parents (in my defense, their deaths were no surprise and we had time to say our goodbyes). I'll miss my cat if he goes before me but I doubt it will devastate me like those dogs.
