November is grey (bike month)

Last month (October) was Orange Bike Month. I hereby declare November to be Grey Bike Month.

Show us your grey bikes.

This one is not mine. I don't own a grey bike.

This is the time of year when everything starts looking grayer. Good choice, @noglider. I'll post up a couple when I'm back home.

My first Trek road bike and still a favorite.

Moto GT has some gold in it.

Up for sale, but for big money.

My Moto Super Touring. I'll be saying goodbye to it soon, I just picked up a PX-10 and I'm approaching critical mass...

I wasn't sure if I had grey bike; I had to go look. I guess that's a sign I have too many bikes.
I don't have one. The closest I come is a raw titanium MTB.

Why are we celebrating camouflage colors? Orange in October, grey in November?

This time of year brings me to my pet peeve; black and silver as primary road fender choices. Around here, fenders go onto road bikes for the short, grey months and come off when the light gets good. Black and silver are as inconspicuous as you can get under the low grey Oregon (or Washington or southern Michigan) winter sky. We think of silver as bright, but trust me, as a former owner of a silver car, it is far from it.

Now grey (and esp silver grey does have its advantages for bikes. Hides dirt! I used to have people wonder how I kept my Fuji Pro so clean when I had just finished a 50 mile wet road training ride. I might or might not touch the bike with my finger and show them how filthy it was!

1984 Specialized Expedition Touring. Still looking good today, thanks to extensive paint touch ups, new bar tape, NOS replacement of stem, levers, crank over the years. About due for new gum rubber hoods.

Quite possibly the strangest bike I ever bought, considering the seat post and bar stem are likely original: a ca '86 Union Randonneur.

Sure, it's a grey bike. But in really bright sun it looks almost silver!

1982 Motobecane Jubile Sport, since traded for a C&V Easy Rider Kayak.
