Well if more people started riding regularly, that would be revolutionary, right?

Good pic of the bike itself. Might help with identifying the bike for the o.p. I have no clue. Interesting subject.

Alas, the Conjunto Escultórico Memorial Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara in Santa Clara, Cuba makes no mention of his bicycle exploits.

It looks to be a Garelli 38cc Mosquito Cyclomoteur Engine. External flywheel. It may have been called a 38A made about 1951? There are a few on ebay and other places.

Now! The bike! I wonder where and who made his bicycle.

Interesting stuff, thanks.
Could that have been a pacer engine for training?

It looks like Legnano was made in Argentina and it looks like this bicycle is a ~1948.

Internal rear brake cable, similar lugs, made in Argentina; it could be the one!

There is a blog entry online about Legnano that was made for a while under license in Argentina. Helpful, great photos.

We need links.

I'm really on all you'alls lefts.

Well, you can't trust poverty numbers (or anything else) the CCP puts out but I suspect most people can't afford a car. And obviously the USSR and Cuba and every other commie nation had/has a limited selection of cars for the few people who could actually afford them.

Stalin had Packard's shipped in for him personally.
