Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yesterday was fun, temperature was near perfect and about 500 people did the ride. The wind was pretty nasty, so I ended up being slower than last year overall, but still happy with the effort.

There was a section where we had a decent pace line going, working fairly hard, where we were slower than I did it last year solo, the wind was probably 15-20 right in our faces.

Punctured at about 5 miles in, tire went town to about 35 PSI then sealed, the neutral support motorcycle was right there and had a pump so I didn’t even need to use CO2. I lost maybe 3 minutes.

I’m pretty happy with the effort. Held a 2.7 W/kg average for the whole ride(over 4 hours), don’t think I had anything left in the tank at the end.

It’s raining and windy and 44F, so it would be a good day for said jacket. But I am low on HTFU today. So not yet.

Spot on.

It was a fast start, so that helped. He was a tailgunner for half the race.

IKR. I had my heat on last night and this morning. Numerous trees down yesterday from the wind. But by Friday it’s supposed to be back up to 80.

Skipped the cold wet ride, and watching the Giro. Thankfully GCN+ has it and it’s not blocked in USA.

It's chilly in the quasi-north, too. A possible year-without-summer in the making.

The horse doesn't know where to go if the jockey doesn't tell it. Duh.

We got summer. The weather guy was all excited last night - "We FINALLY got into the triple digits"

I think I'd have been just fine waiting a while longer myself.

“Most of the horses made it around the track, in the right direction, although many decided to stop to eat some grass on the way.“
