Addiction 2022.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gotta allow for the 30 intermission and 45 minute multiple encores.

I decided it was time to wash the Dodge, which I acquired 8 years ago this week. It was covered in little yellow spots, which I presume are some kind of bird s**t. Getting those scrubbed off was a chore, let me tell you! Then, since I hadn't waxed it since at least last fall, I did that. While the wax was drying, I decided to wash the Canyon, before I take it to my LBS, so he can replace the stupid pressfit BB that sounds like an coke-fueled granny in an old rocking chair. Then I thought I should do th Litespeed. As I was stripping off the pump and saddlebag, I discovered a line of salt deposited on the underside of the top tube. Yeesh. Apparently the "Old Men Don't Sweat" thing hasn't hit me yet. And that was only 150 miles worth!

Last night's ride was fun. Fastest trip on the 25 mile TT route with the Litespeed. I did the same ride on Wednesday, and it was a lot harder, for some reason. I had raised the bars about a cm, having discovered that they were about that much lower than the other bikes. It might, or might not have made a difference. Hard to say. Still, it was fun pushing the HR up into the high 160s a couple times, just for s**ts and giggles. Overall, the Litespeed is turning out exactly as I'd hoped - comfy, reasonably fast, good looking. And with the R8000 Ultegra, it shifts like thought - a quiet clikclik, and it's in the gear I want. Now all the other bikes are getting jealous!

It’s like the director mailed it in for this concert.

That would be for the audience, but sadly no. More like one hour (10 songs).

We spent the afternoon working in the cement pond so, except for a little sunburn on the shoulder, it has passed pleasantly.

It was friggin' brisk this morning - it was a long sleeves, vest, knee warmers, gaiter and gloves kind of ride. I thought that I was done with that kind of **** for a while, but I guess that I was mistaken.

It was nice here today, cloudy and in the 60s with a little sun at times. I went with a club ride of about 15 riders. Got to see some friends I haven't seen much of lately and got dropped when the first climb came. A friend who hasn't been riding much was there and wanted to skip one of the bigger climbs and go to the break and wait for the group, so we did that and he bought me lunch.
After the group got there and had snacks we started back and they added a small loop with a bit of extra climbing. At that point I was near the front and didn't notice my friend who bought me lunch had gone off on his own to avoid the extra, so I felt like a jerk.

72 miles today 3k of climbing. 30 minute delay of game for a thunder storm. Cold front after the storm. I am a hurting unit. Going to try the Northville ride tomorrow. If I can get out of bed.
