5/1: 16.8
5/5: 17.6
5/6: 17.5
5/8: 17.5
5/10: 17.5

MTD: 194.9

Lucked out tonight, almost crashed at 15+ mph. I carelessly let myself drift towards the edge of the MUP, where there happened to be some poorly patched asphalt with a deep rut. Front wheel briefly got stuck and I almost got pitched off. Barely saved it.

It has been surprising to see how different the mileage is day-to-day over the same route. Sometimes a half mile or more. I think it is the reliance on the cell towers for location. My Bryton computer that has full GPS is spot on with very little variation.

I pretty much expected there to be some discrepancy, if I found two GPS unit reporting the same thing I'd automatically think one was faulty.
Because I ride in the dark I can cut many of the corners to suit myself, it only takes a few cut corners and a few minor GPS signal hiccups over 10ks to see significant changes in the data.
So far the watch is slightly better at plotting the path, it hasn't had me riding off the road and into people properties, where as MapMyRide and Google both have instances around here where it tells me I crossed over a property boundary and through a fence while taking a wide arc around a corner.

Glad you didn't get hurt, nor the bike damaged! We gotta try and stay up on two wheels!

That sounds similar to the dreaded sidewalk edge drop that can happen from time to time. That got my wife last year on a section of MUP.

Got back from my ride this morning and it looked like I'd wet my pants
I knew it was foggy out there but with long sleeves, full length gloves and even a face covering I really didn't notice how wet until I was half way around my usual circuit, by which time I figured it was pointless heading home early.

Today 29.1km
MTD 291.9 km

Just got done with a day and a half of jury duty. Also dog-sitting for our daughter. Hoped to get in a 3-mile dog walk and a ride, but not enough time today (5/24). Hopefully some better time management the rest of the week and I'll get back out.

Got a bit wet this morning, not from fog this time but from the road. There was still quite a few puddles around from last nights rain. I probably should look into getting some mudguards one day, or just stop riding after it's rained. Either way it was a decent ride this morning with average speed and time on a par with the rest of the month.

Today 29.54km
MTD 321.44km

I had a bit of a problem with the chain today, it fell between the bottom bracket and the granny gear, gentle persuasion couldn't get it unjammed, stomping on it didn't free it up. I finally had to use a chain tool to separate the chain. I must have bent the chain when stomping on it and it kept falling off the sprocket. I had an epic fail, I had to call the spouse for a ride home.

Thought it was going to be too wet to ride tonight, but the rain cleared out early this evening. Some puddles so got wet from the spray since I took the fenders off a few weeks ago. Looks like I have a shot at 300 miles if I can ride the next three nights.

Sorry to hear this - but the good news is you've almost doubled your goal for the month!

My month is over, although it is the 30th here so that's not as dramatic as it might sound.
Between really bad weather and coughing like a dog on his last legs I doubt I'll be back on the bike before the end of the week.
Oh well let's see what the official start of winter brings others than wet and windy weather.
