Yay. More racing.
For those with the Velogames habit, make your picks by 0800 Eastern. I'm sure mine are spot on.

stages two, three and eight look to be full of wiggles and giggles. should be fun. that (partially) uphill tt later in the race will mess things up significantly.

No idea if MVDP is on a training ride (well hello again, road bike) or a mission from God. We'll find out tomorrow.
I swapped out Woods for MVDP and Hamilton for Cosnefroy in my last iteration (plus Golas -> Cattaneo). I'm prepared to rue those changes. Or not. I also compromised my morals by selecting the Dark Rider of Rohan, AKA the Big Ringwraith.
Interesting stats now in the rider list showing % of teams that picked a given rider.

Where can we watch this race? My GCN+ isn't airing it in the US.

I have $5 Strong VPN and they are very strong. I don't understand how the free VPNs make money and would steer clear of them. Any of the top rated services (per a reputable rater) will be fine.
When I was living overseas, I had an old router that I reflashed to DD-WRT and it was the router that was logged in to the VPN. So everything on my wireless network was on VPN. Now, I only have VPN installed on my laptop. I haven't had to use it to poach bike races lately but a good reminder from GrainBrain that I can. Easy to tell the laptop to pretend to be in the UK so that my GCN+ works, and then Chromecast from laptop to my TV.
If you are trying to do something like watch through Roku (which, unfortunately, GCN does not offer), you will need to go the VPN-capable router route since you can't install the VPN app to Roku or your Smart TV. There is some info on those various options at the Strong VPN site, which I think generally apply whether you use them or another service. Speed, cost, security, and how often you can flip your location are distinguishers between the services.

It was time for the hedgehog to come out and trip over an acorn again. He'll go back to his den near the back middle of the pack soon enough.
We may rue the day you clued one4smoke in to the end of tour points things.

very likely but to know and remain silent is bad karma. hoping my good deed for the day leads to another tdf double top podium step sweep...
or...
@one4smoke will, heretofore, be properly baptized/initiated truly into the sacred league of eternal mediocrity. my good deed perhaps less than that...?

^ yes. Absolutely. It was the right thing to do. I'm just bitter you beat me to it. So you get the karma lift and I just get beaten more. I see it coming like a freight train. Or like Madun up a mountain. Jeez.
I do not, unfortunately, have any similar such clarity on the TdS stage 3 winner. I'd like to see another MVDP vs Ahlaphilippe battle. Perhaps Theuns and Schachmann will ruin my point scoring party.

it would appear that mvdp has sorted out whatever issues that were curtailing his performances this spring.

^ truth. I wonder what Rohan's [new?] issues are? I mean besides being dead to me again.
@one4smoke is looking dangerous. Particularly with all those end of tour points he's got coming from Schachmann.
A strong showing of top >1s by Laporte in the best Cofidis fashion. I didn't see my man Consnefroy in the top ranks nor in the race summary as crashed out; perhaps he's running silent, running deep and will do something later in the race.
So far, it hasn't been the Giro / Dauphine Ineos dark blue train. Perhaps Woods can rise to the challenge in the space they're leaving. A little lumpier tomorrow but still not GC decisive. It's still a long way to wherever the heck we're going.

He put up some respectable results in the dirt, too, winning both World Cup short track events, and finishing 7th and 2nd (behind Pidcock) in the XCO events. MVDP is pretty good at bikes.

50km attacks in the rain while wearing the usual MvdP summer fare!?
Oh look how much easier it is to out sprint everyone after sitting in wheels! You could do that a few times over three weeks ...
