One of the fun parts about commuting through an industrial city like Vernon, CA (no one actually lives there except the mayor and a few family members) is running into stuff like this: https://youtu.be/X-wLiCARn4U

50 miles used to seem like a long ride, and well, it still does. Tarmac is in the shop so I did it on my Tricross. It rolls nicely but it's a bit more weight to schlep over that distance.

i reached my YTD goal of 1500+ miles this year . I’m glad I made it before the cold and rainy weather sets in .
its been a tough last couple of months. I hope to get back onto some type of routine.
another positive is I’ve finally found a handlebar shape that’s easy on the hands . Mustache bars . The flare back ends are the most comfortable I’ve found .
now what to do with those other 30-40 handlebars that didn’t make it

Nice riding weather is back! Sand everywhere, however. Makes a real mess out of the drivetrain.

Yeah, it still seems long to me too, LOL! Maybe age has something to do with it.....The Domane with 32s are about as good as it’s gonna get for me. Your bike would kill me in the hills of VA.....

My Tricross is running 32s, too. I nicknamed it the "Urban Assault Bike" because of its ability to handle the streets of L.A. (its triple crank might do well in the hills of VA, too). A recent Bicycling article showed a bunch of "must-have" accessories, most of which I didn't see the need for, but for $5 on Etsy, making its name official seemed like a good idea. You get two stickers, one for each side of the top tube (or wherever).

Love it! I paid $55 for white Bontrager stickers for the Domane wheels. $55!! This to advertise their ****. Dirty dogs got me coming and going, LOL!

Ridden 3 rings before, I think it’d be too hard to manage in these hills. Much of the road riding is actually quite technical, and I’m always fiddling to find exactly the right gear. And shifting needs to come quick - a slow shift under rapidly changing elevations will kill your momentum....

I got some great news today in that the Tarmac was ready to roll again. So when I got home, I wasted no time in adorning it with its nickname. Now I guess the mountain bike needs a name. Maybe Stumpy?
