1990 3.0 SR400 Criterium Series
I picked this up a couple weeks ago. It was listed on Letgo for $93.01 but I negotiated the seller down to a cool $93 even. The tires were shot and it needed a little TLC but now I ride it every day. On smooth pavement it's heaven on wheels but on the bumpy stuff it's not much fun.

This is not my bike, but I stopped to pick up another bike and saw this Cannondale hanging in the seller's garage. It was acquired in a police raid on a crack house. Not sure how he came to have it, but it had a rattle in the frame. Upon closer look, he found a bullet hole in the top tube. In this picture, the bike is hanging vertically. It appeared to be a Cipollini Saeco replica. The rattle turned out to be a bullet fragment. Looked like a nice bike otherwise, and certainly had street cred.

I recently acquired this 1985 SR500. I was expecting the ride to be a bit jarring compared to the steel bikes I usually ride, but I've been pleasantly surprised by ride quality of this beast.

...if that bike fits as you say, can you reach and use the drops? That seems to not fit based on the bars and levers. But if it works for you, rock on.

Is a mountain bike ok? It’s a 1992 M700, so original when I got it that it had the original Ritchey Megabite tires! I took them off for safety reasons
The paint is a gorgeous blue-to-black fade that doesn’t photograph as pretty as it is in person. It also has the aluminum Pepperoni Fork, that luckily had a steel steerer! I loved restoring this bike, but it was just too small, so I sold it locally

I haven't found these bikes to be harsh either. Firm? Yes. Fast? Yup. Great steer'ers? You bet.

Thanks! I believe the components are mostly original. Or at least they're consistent with what they showed in the 1985 catalog. Mine has Superbe Pro crankset, Cinelli bars and stem, Dia Compe AGC-250 brakes. The catalog says derailleurs and shifters should be Cyclone, though mine are alpha-5000. Even though the derailleurs don't match the catalog, I suspect they're original to the bike.

I'm older and less flexible (nice way of saying I'm too fat haha), I mostly ride more upright (hence the stem height) and not as concerned with speed as in just getting from point A to B safely (at night I even ride on the side walk) when I'm pulling a BOB trailer getting groceries for the wife.

I can't say that the Cannondale is plush, but it's surprisingly comfortable to ride albeit that I've never done more than 40 miles continuously. The aluminum is stiff in the bottom bracket area but somehow is able to absorb some of the road chatter at the same time. Or, it's just my imagination and I'm just trying to rationalize what a cool bike it is

1988 ST400 Rebuild

Just finished the rebuild on this 1988 ST400. Had the frame and fork powder coated last fall. Converted to 700c wheels (Magic Open Probrims/Shimano 105 hubs). A mix of decent, though nothing fancy components. The crankset was new, but guessing it must have been an oem part, as I haven’t found it otherwise. It’s SRAM 9 speed 48/34. Less than 700 grams w/o the bb. Rode very smooth. Will rack it up and do at least a weekend tour this summer.

Beautiful ST! I like the subdued 'coral' orange color. Stock components on an '88 ST400 would have had a Sugino triple crankset and a bevy of Suntour Accushift pieces--nothing that looked as good as what you have on it now, IMO. What SRAM crankset is that? While I am not on the SRAM-for-the-whole-groupset train, they have produced some very nice looking cranksets, ones that I'd not mind on my bikes (Red and Force carbon). Add another one to the list! This looks like it took heavy inspiration from C-Record era Campagnolo. A bit of Athena and Record in there for sure.

It immediately reminded me of the SRAM Rival I picked up. It was a take off from a Giant frame that cracked. It is the base from which will drive my Kestrel build. FSA is all well and good but their bottom brackets are too damn pricey, not to mention the cranksets. I'll survive with the extra weight

And that color reminded me of this. If I can't come to terms with the red with white fade of my Kestrel - I was toying with this idea. So I dig your Cannondale build.
